April Faves

Happy Sunday and welcome to my April Favourites. Today I am going to share with you just my makeup faves as I have a lot of them and it would be a very long post. So check out my Instagram to see what other things I've been loving this month.

I've been trying out quite a lot of primers this month, and I've got a few in particular that have really stood out.
First is the YSL Touché Eclat Primer which I've seen Allana Davison rave about a lot, and I thought it would be a super expensive, luxe Primer that was way out of my budget and wouldn't love up to the hype, however I actually really like it. The gold flecks in it made me a bit anxious to put it on my face, however I actually really love the blurring and smoothing effect but also that those good flecks don't show up on the skin.

Next is the newest addition to the Becca Primers and that is the First Light Priming Filter which has seen a lot of attention since its release and although it's had some negative reviews, I've seen more positive ones and I am definitely in that bunch of reviews. It's purple, which looks scary and slightly unnerving, but it doesn't translate on the skin and it actually gives my skin a very healthy and glowing looking complexion, without the use of shimmer particles or anything like that. Some have said it's hydrating, personally I just really like the healthy look it gives my skin. I also like to mix it with the Backlight Priming Filter which gives a beautiful dewey look to the skin.

The NYX Angel Veil Primer is loved by some great influencers on YouTube like the lovely Kathleen Lights and many others, so I had to give it a try and I actually really like it. It gives the Hourglass Mineral Veil a run for its money which is also tried but found I prefer the others I've mentioned today, but I will give it a fair shot in May.

Finally for the primer faves is the Smashbox Primer Water and now this has been around a lot and to be honest I never thought much of it and didn't pick it up, but I wanted something that will give me hydration but not too much or leave a thick layer of product on my skin. So I gave it a try and although I don't know if it really does anything, I like the ritual of using it before during and after my makeup to settle any excess product but also just to refresh my skin.

You probably know my love for the Lightening Drops from The Body Shop but since Nip + Fab released their version of foundation adjusting Drops, I've been giving them a true test, and I have to say, I'm loving them so far. I was finding my makeup didn't look as good, and was separating throughout the day, but with these it just doesn't, and I really appreciate that. Plus the packaging is better because the dropper just didn't work for the TBS ones.

Now onto actual base products and I've not been wearing s huge amount of foundation which has been very odd, but I have relied on my concealer to give me coverage where needed. So this task has been done incredibly well by the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer which I repurchased when I got the primers, and I have to say I've missed it's great coverage, longevity and the shade as it's perfect for my fair skin tone. Although nothing will ever beat the Beauty Blender I have loved the Real Techniques Deluxe Concealer Brush which is in a great little kit that also has an Expert Face Brush and the Miracle Complexion Sponge and the concealer brush is definitely a fave. I love to use it with a Corrector for my dark circles and for Concealer around my eyes and on any blemishes or scars. It's a great brush and definitely one I recommend.

Ive been having a lot of issues with my concealer and foundation looking cakey after applying powder, so I picked up the Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Powder as I've heard so many amazing things that I couldn't put it off any longer. I have to admit, the hype is definitely justified and I love how my skin looks and feels when I've used this. My under eyes don't look caked on with makeup, or dry and crepe-like. I love it and it's definitely worth the nearly 30 price tag.

Now onto cheek stuffs, and my two stand out products are both from the Creme Puff range from Maxfactor, the first and newest product from them is the Bronzer in Light Bronze, it's the lighter of the two and it has less shimmer. To be honest, it barely had any shimmer, but it looks glowy on the skin so I love it to warm up my face and generally add some colour back into my complexion. I like to apply my bronzers with a duo-fibre brush, and the one I've been using and loving this month is the Duo-Fibre Contour Brush which is just small enough to be precise and you can use it to contour if you wish, which I have and it blends really well and applied just the right amount of product.

I then go in with the Blush in Lavish Mauve which I can't believe I didn't own before because it's so fricking beautiful and I love how it looks on the cheeks. It has shimmer, like all the other Creme Puff Blushes  but even though I've had it the shortest amount of time, I think I love it the most out of all the other shades.

Now onto the brows and the only two products I've used this month are the Maybelline Master Brow Pencil in Deep Brown, and the Brow Drama Gel in Medium Brown and I have to say I've been obsessed with how they have made my brows look. I've had more compliments and questions on how I've done them that it has increased my confidence in the products and how I'm doing them. Which is always good.

Another Maybelline product that I've been using is the Big Shot Mascara which I've seen a lot of good reviews on since it's release and I have to say I can see the hype and why people love it so much. It's a strange wand, not one I would normally go for, I prefer the Lash Sensational but this is great and it reminds me of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara which I really love also. Definitely a great mascara to try if you're looking for a new one.
