Birchbox VS Glossybox March 2017

It's time for a beauty box show down, and as always I have goodies from both Birchbox and Glossybox, hence the title. So here's my thoughts on the contents of these boxes. If you missed last months you can check it out HERE

In this months Birchbox they've brought back the OG style box and filled it with 5 beauty goodies from around the globe. So let's see what's in this months box...

BENEFIT They're Real! Double The Lip in Pink Thrills £16.50
Starting off with a new 2017 release from Benefit, these are very interesting and the first of their kind (from my knowledge anyway) these are a lipstick and lip liner in one. I have seen and tried one of these before but wasn't particularly overwhelmed by how good they were. I will give this a shot, but what I find odd is that the liner is quite a lot darker than the lipstick shade so it would make a good ombre lip, or you have to really blend them in well or fill the entire lip in with the liner and then go over the top with the lipstick. I don't know, I'll give it a try and find out the best ways to use it and let you know.

BALANCE ME Instant Lift Primer £22
I have received quite a lot of skincare from Balance Me but never a makeup product so I am looking forward to trying this primer. This particular primer has a 99% natural blend of Hyaluronic Acid and Acacia Gum to tighten, smooth and refine skin. Same as other primers you just apply after your regular moisturiser, and then go in on top with your makeup. It's a diddy little sample and you have to really work it into the skin but it leaves a really pretty, healthy glow to the skin, but it does feel quite tacky, which although is good for really clinging on to whatever makeup products you put on, however I don't know how well it will work. So another product that I will try and update you on.

RITUALS The Ritual of Sakura Foaming Shower Gel £4.50
The Body Scrub/Clay products from Rituals that I have tried are bloomin' incredible and I really enjoyed using them, and this I think I will love just as much. It's a foam Shower Gel which is interesting as it's a gel and then once it comes into contact with the skin it foams up, It smells really nice so I just hope any fragrance doesn't irritate my skin. This particular one has Organic Rice Milk and Cherry Blossom to soothe and cleanse the skin. Really looking forward to trying this little guy.

BATISTE 2-in-1 Invisible Dry Shampoo & Conditioner £4.49
I have seen a lot of marketing on social media and magazines about this new product from Batiste but I haven't picked one up even though I do generally like the Batiste Dry Shampoos. This one is very interesting as it's a dry shampoo and conditioner, very odd. They say is refreshes roots and nourishes ends, I am concerned as I am sure many others are that it doesn't absorb oils but makes it look even more greasy so I shall try it out and see what it's like. The general concept sounds great, but 2-in-1 products aren't always successful in my experience.

MARCELLE Gentle Makeup Remover £14.50
This is a great size for taking on your travels and it's a bi-phase makeup remover which means there is oil on top and water at the bottom, simply shake and apply to a cotton pad and remove your makeup. I like these kind as the oil removes tough waterproof makeup and the water is great for removing the not so tough stuff. I don't tend to use a separate eye makeup remover when I take my makeup off but if I have a little bit on maybe I will rather than using an oil cleanser or micellar water. I'll give it a try, if it's good enough, I will add that extra step for ease and so I don't rub and mess around with my eyes too much.

This months Glossybox is all in the preparation. From prepping the eyes for flawless concealer, to priming that base for foundation and a do-it-all palette.

oOLLUTION Eye Love £30
This little guy is an eye cream which is 100% natural, hydrating and rich in anti-oxidants and is ready to help diminish dark circles and reduce puffiness. I am keen to try this as eye cream really helps with how your concealer looks and wears. A good base is the key to good makeup. This is pretty pricey but it's a decent sample and I have used it once when I first opened the box and it felt nice and sank into the skin really fast so I am looking forward to trying it before I apply my makeup and see what it does to my concealer.

SLEEK MAKEUP Eye & Cheek Palette £10
I unfortunately missed the boat on this with choosing which palette I received as I was too worried about my hip operation but I actually think this is a really great one anyway. I received All Day Soiree which has two blushes and 4 eyeshadows, although one of the blush looks like it would be a nice highlighter and eyeshadow as well although may be a bit glittery for the cheeks. But there is also a very nice cool tone pale pink blush which reminds me of MAC Well Dressed Blush so I will definitely be giving that a try. The palette doesn't blow my socks off in terms of the colour selection, the blushes are meh, and the eyeshadows aren't anything to write home about, there's two orangey/peachy tones and a light lid shade but a very pretty crease shade which I will definitely be getting some good wear from as it's just the tone I like, a little bit warm and a little bit cool - so neutral then, that would have been easier and much quicker to read but there we go.

THIS WORKS In Transit Camera Close Up £30
This is quite an expensive primer, more than the Benefit, Becca, Makeup Forever and Tarte so I don't know if I would ever buy this. I have received it before and to be honest I haven't used that one as I didn't like the scent. But it's supposed to balance, plump and brighten the skin which are all great benefits for a primer, but the scent really put me off last time. But I will try it and see how it performs if I can get passed the scent.

FIGS & ROUGE Hydra-Active Smart Nutrient Vital Moisture Day Cream £28
When I first put this on my hand I thought it would be better as a night cream or even a leave on moisture mask, but when you massage it into the skin it feels lightweight and very airy almost. It's a very nourishing moisturiser which is said to be long-lasting which I like in my moisturiser as I can get dry in some areas through the day and my makeup breaks up and looks horrible so having a long lasting moisturiser is great. This one has a bunch of great ingredients, like Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamins A, C and E which is where the long lasting moisturising comes from. I am slightly hesitant to try this as it does have perfume in which as I have mentioned already and my skin doesn't do great with too much fragrance and this is less than half way down the ingredients list so I will test it on a small section of my skin first and see how it reacts, but I do really like how it felt on my hand so I hope my skin is okay with it.

SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL BC Bonacure Oil Miracle Brazilnut Oil Pulp Treatment £3.95
I hate these long names, I mean really 8 words in its name, not even including the brand part, ridiculous. But anyway, this is a hair treatment which smoothes and tames hair. It has Macadamia Nut to intensely nourish, and UV filters to protect your hair from the sun. This says to apply onto towel dried hair, leave for 5-10 minutes and rinse, but I wouldn't towel dry my hair half way through my shower just to leave a hair treatment on so I would just squeeze as much water as possible and then apply it and rinse. It smells really nice though and I hope that scent lasts a little while on the hair as it's delish.

The Winner...
That's it for this months Birchbox VS Glossybox. Now for the winner, it's going to have to be Birchbox this month. There are more products I am looking forward to trying and that I am confident I will use, like the Rituals Foaming Shower Gel and the Batiste Dry Shampoo & Conditioner, and I can always find a use for the Marcelle Eye Makeup Remover. Whereas Glossybox although I really want to try the Eye Cream and the Hair Treatment the rest isn't guaranteed to work for my skin due to the fragrance and the Sleek Palette doesn't excite me too much as it's just so-so.

Thanks for checking out today's post. Be sure to come back on Sunday for another post from me.
