Beauty Haul

What better way to enjoy hump day than with a beauty haul. Here are some of the things I've picked up recently that I wanted to share with you.

I think this is about my third bottle of the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Siberia, it's just one of my favourite foundations and I have to have one in my collection. But whilst browsing the other NARS makeup I found the NARS Soft Velvet Loose Powder in Snow which is exactly what I have been looking for. I wanted a loose powder that would set my makeup but not make it look too matte, and I wasn't too sure about the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, plus this one wasn't as expensive. So far I really like it. It does exactly what I need, and I simply apply with a fluffy brush on my face and then with a tapered brush for my under eyes and it does the job perfectly. This is the lightest shade - story of my life - but it is a great match and it provides a bit of coverage too which is always great. Plus, I received the NARS Blusher in Orgasm came as a free gift which I ended up giving to my friend to cheer her up.

I don't know why but I never got around to purchasing anything from the Fleur De Force cosmetics range so whilst perusing the rest of the Feel Unique site I decided to pick up a few shades. I remember Fleur saying these were her favourite shades and they're right up my street, so I picked up two of her Lip Glosses in Starry Starry Night (left) which is a beautiful berry pink, and then Written in the Stars which is a nude mauvey pink. These are the kinds of shades I always go for when trying out a new lip formula.  I really like the formulas, they're not sticky and considering they're only lip glosses they're super pigmented and last really well on the lips. Plus they smell like Vanilla which is the best scent for a lip product in my opinion.

My local Boots now has a NYX counter so I picked up one of their Soft Matte Lip Creams in Prague which is again a berry pink shade. It has a sweet cake kind of scent but it is super pigmented and lasts incredibly well on the lips. Definitely a great Autumn lip colour. I will definitely be picking up some more of these so if you have any recommendations on what colours to get then leave them in the comments or on my Instagram.

Now for the star of the show, the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit in Surreal Light, this is their new palette released for the Holidays I believe. The packaging is beautiful, who doesn't love marble, but what's on the inside really is stunning. You have the Surreal Light Finishing Powder in the far left, and then two blushers on the top in Surreal Glow and Surreal Effect, and then underneath those is the Surreal Bronze Light Bronzer and then Surreal Strobe Light Strobe Powder, These products are exclusive to this palette, you cannot find them singularly so it's amazing to have all these in one place and they are the perfect shade and tone for my skin tone. Before purchasing this palette I hadn't tried their bronzers or strobe powders but I really love how they look on the skin, the beautiful glow they give and they're just stunning. I will be doing a more in depth review with swatches on this palette next week so keep your eyes peeled and be sure to check back.

Next was a trip to the newly re-vamped The Body Shop website where I picked up a few skincare items. When the weather changes, my skin tends to freak out a bit and I wanted to be ready, so I picked up the Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution which is great for breakouts and problematic skin, it's a lightweight pre-serum (which seems like adding an extra unnecessary step into my routine) so I just use it as a targeted treatments to any blemishes or problem areas and it has really helped.
To go along with that I also purchased the Tea Tree Pore Minimizer which I have actually used in the past but I wanted to give it a shot and see if it could work it's magic on my pores and any blemishes that I have as it smooths and mattifies the skin which is perfect before applying makeup. Also to help with pores and smoothing my skin I picked up the Drops Of Youth Wonderblur Youth Skin Smoother as I had tried this on my hand previously when I went into the store and it felt so amazing and silky smooth so I was hoping I could use this as a primer to reduce the appearance of my pores and generally just smooth any texture issues I  have. It's been doing a great job so far although I wouldn't say it's the best primer as my skin can look oily by the end of the day which I don't normally have an issue with but I will keep trying this out.
Finally from TBS is the Aloe Instant Soothing Rescue Gel and I used to use the serum version of this but they discontinued it but I always really liked to use that before my SPF/moisturiser in the morning and I have to say I am loving this. It provides the perfect amount of moisture whilst still keeping my skin soothed and balanced and with the colder weather my skin is going a bit haywire and doesn't know what's going on.

Finally I wanted to share with you some products from Real Techniques, they have a couple of Limited Edition Sets which I picked up. This is the first ever fan voted for design, the Your Picks Set which you can pick up for just £20 at Superdrug (normally £25), and it has a Buffing Brush, Stippling Brush, the infamous Contour Brush, a Deluxe Crease Brush and finally a Base Shadow Brush. I don't know whether I should actually use these yet, so far I haven't but they are such great brushes that I want to keep them nice and clean on display. But who knows.

Next is the Ultimate Base Set that you can get for £20.99 also from Superdrug and it has a Miracle Complexion Sponge, a Expert Face Brush, and an Exclusive Deluxe Concealer Brush which is like a mini Buffing Brush. I really like this set, I have ditched my Beauty Blender for the Miracle Complexion Sponge and the Expert Face Brush is my third one I have repurchased as it's my favourite foundation brush ever.
Just thought I would add this in here too as a lot of the sets come with little cases but I bet you didn't know that if you folded them the other way and put your brushes in upside down you can use it to dry your brushes after you've washed them as you never want to dry your brushes with them standing up, always upside down so the water can run out. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Be sure to check back on Friday as I have Octobers instalment of Birchbox VS Glossybox and it's a good one this month.
