Birchbox VS Glossybox: AUGUST 2016

For August, Birchbox did something a little different to normal, and did an exclusive Scuba BirchBAG for their Dive In theme. The bags come in a light grey with different colour zippers and they're perfect for makeup, brushes, travel ling essentials or some thing along those lines. I'll be honest it's not the best or the prettiest but it's cool that they have amped up their game and have thought outside the box, literally.

MARCELLE Waterproof Eyeliner in Expresso £10.50
Birchboxers had the chance to choose a shade of this eyeliner. I of course chose the brown  because I'm safe and I like my brown eyeliner and I never wear the 5 purple liners I have in my collection as it is so didn't need another one. However what makes this one so awesome is that it is splash-proof, budge-proof and Summer proof basically so once it's set, that's it, it ain't going anywhere. That is one feature in an eyeliner that I always look for so this I am hoping is going to be my baby. I don't know about paying over a tenner for it but we'll see.

ANATOMICALS Smoother Butts love Coconuts Coconut & Mango Body Lotion - £3.99
Next is a body lotion and this smells like summery heaven in a tube. I have body lotions coming out of my ears and so I don't need more, but this one smells so delish I could happily sit there and smell it for the rest of my life. There's Vitamin E and Fruit Extracts chucked in their for their obvious skin moisturising benefits but I have to say, it smells like Summer in a bottle, and who doesn't love that.

YES TO COCONUTS  Hydrate & Restore Cleansing Wipes - £3.99
Makeup Wipes. A Skincare junkie's worst nightmare. Myself and makeup wipes don't get on. They're great for removing swatches off hands and stuff but to remove a face full of makeup properly and thoroughly, nah, it just doesn't work. This is coming from the girl who for over 5 years used makeup wipes every single night to remove her makeup and thought this was satisfactory, oh the shelves of cleansers and makeup removers have mocked me ever since. But anyway, this is strange because there is only one wipe in this pack, I don't know what one wipe could do but hey. These contain Coconut Water and Kukui Nut Extract to hydrate an cleanse your complexion. I don't know about the makeup removing properties but let me know if you have tried these before. Plus, they're 96% natural, so that's a bonus.

MERCI HANDY Black Vanilla Hand Cleansing Gel - £2.90 each
This is possibly the best smelling hand sanitizing gel I have ever smelt. The best way I can describe it is it smells like men, sexy, manly men. That's not classed as a description for scents but that's what I first thought. These are great to stick in your handbag or makeup bag or travel bag for obvious reasons. Let's be honest, it's not very exciting but it smells good.

VOYA Silky By Nature Shampoo -  £18
Since receiving subscription boxes I never understood why they put in a shampoo but not the conditioner or vice versa. I mean granted this is a good size but I don't want or need any more shampoo samples so I think it's time to change my survey - I'm pretty sure I said that last month too. But anyway, this is made from hand-harvested Seaweed and Vitamin B5 to strengthen and nourish hair.

BALANCE ME Radiance Face Mask - £18
Last but not least is a radiance face mask, 3 words that just belong together. I've had quite a few things from this brand and all have worked really nicely with my skin so I am hoping this will do the same. It says this is for all skin types and is a clay based mask that polishes, hydrates and smoothes dull, tired skin. Definitely one for an all-in-one quick fix.

This months Glossybox was a special collab with Rae Feather a luxe accessory label, you can find more on the brand here, all in celebration for Glossybox's 5th Birthday. So if you haven't got your hands on this amazing monthly subscription box yet, then I suggest you go to their site now. P.S. There is also a really cute pouch from Rae Feather in it which I have to say, it made this months box.

RAE HEATHER Mini Monogram Pochette - £20
So let's start with the cute pouch. I love the design, it's a great size for lot's of different things and I have to say, it's so much better than the one which came with Birchbox this month (sorry Birchbox). It's £20 so that should tell you something about the ££'s that Rae Feather has behind it but it's worth a browse even just to look at some pretty things to pass the time.

MUA Heaven & Earth Eyeshadow Palette - £4
Next is something which is much easier on the purse strings, and that is another fantastic palette from MUA. This is a brand that offers great quality products for a ridiculously affordable price. These palettes are some of the best in the drugstore so definitely worth getting your mitts on. I love this one as it's very bronzey and who doesn't love a good old bronze eyeshadow look in the Summer to go with your beautiful Summer tan.

MUDMASKY Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask - £53
Back up the price bracket now and here is a brand I have never heard about before - one of the many benefits for these subscription boxes. This is a all natural ingredient detoxifying mud mask. It's said to refine and tighten pores, hydrate, brighten, smooth and generally just amp up your skin in all sorts of awesome ways. I think I will really like this and I can't wait to give it a try. It reminds me of GlamGlow with all the claims so I am hoping it us, although the price tag is almost the same.

SPA TO YOU Deep Pore Facial Cleansing Brush - £6.99
I received a Konjac Sponge from this brand a couple months ago and I really enjoyed using that so I am hoping this is the same. A facial cleansing brush hasn't been a continuous step in my skincare routine, but I have tried them in the past, manual and electric, and I always seem to get great results. I love that they cleanse your skin deeper and more thoroughly than your fingers can. This brush in particular is made with super-soft bristles to help buff away dead skin cells for that deeper cleanse. There are however silicone bristles in here too which helps to massage and improve circulation. I am very intrigued by this little guy so I will keep you posted.

COWSHED Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion - £20
I've not been a fan of the CowShed products that I've received in all honestly. I mean they're fine for travel but I don't like the scents all that much so I definitely wouldn't purchase the full size, especially not for £20. This is supposed to be very energizing and uplifting thanks to the Lemongrass, Ginger, Rosemary, whilst deeply moisturising by the Shea and Cocoa Butters. It all sounds great but the scent just isn't for me so this product is a miss.

They also included a Sneak Peak on the card that comes in the box with the product descriptions and such on and next month there is going to be a sample of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara either the waterproof version or the original formula. I haven't tried it yet but I am super excited to try it out next month.

The Best:
This month it has to be GLOSSYBOX. The MUA Palette, the Cleansing Brush, MudMasky Face Mask, and the Rae Feather Pouch stole it this month. Birchbox had a few good things but I just think this month Glossybox won fair and square.
