Spring Edit:The Makeup Bag #16 Spring 2016 Edition

My makeup bag always has a little change up when the new season comes around, and when it's Spring's turn, my makeup normally lightens and brightens for a fresh face with a healthy glow.
I have 5 points on my checklist for my spring makeup:
1. Flawless, Dewey Complexion
2. Bronzed, Luminous Skin
3. Fresh Faced
4. Soft, Subtle Eye
5. Uplifting Pink Lip

IT'S ALL IN THE PREPARATIONIf you want a matte, shine free complexion, you would apply a mattifying primer, foundation and set it with a powder right? So for a dewey finish, I go for an illuminating type product. This is my go-to look all year round but particularly in the warmer weather when I want to resemble more J-Lo and less J-Frost. Either adding a liquid illuminator like the GOSH Lumi Drops in Vanilla into my moisturiser, primer or foundation for a glow boost, or opting for an illuminating base like the Freedom Pro Studio Strobe Cream, they both give a beautiful radiance to the skin, the classic lit-from-within kind of deal.

When it comes to foundations, there's a large array of options with different finishes, coverage, shades, formulas, and much more. So I keep it simple.
If you have more oily skin when the weather gets a bit warmer, then a natural/matte finish foundation will be perfect. I think the L'Oreal Infalliable 24Hr Matte Foundation** is the perfect choice. I mean, I love my NARS Sheer Glow and my Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation, but I like that this one isn't matte, but isn't dewey, it's long lasting with a great coverage but still allows your skin to peek through a little, it's like the perfect mix of everything I look for in a foundation - I just wish the shade range was better, but hey, story of my life.

For concealer I like to keep things flawless, so the Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush on Glow BB Highlighter or the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer** are my current favourites. They brighten highlight, cover and even hydrate my skin which is exactly the pick-me-up dull skin needs after that miserable winter we had. For super coverage for any stubborn blemishes, the Revlon Color Stay Concealer** or the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer* are two great options, they last all day and you can also use these under your eyes if you've had a particularly late night.
I am always sure to set my base to ensure the maximum longevity.

Flawless, Dewey Complexion ✔️

HERE IS WHERE THE FUN REALLY BEGINSI am a massive fan of cream contouring and bronzing, it just sits nicer on the skin and looks more natural and fresh. My favourite cream contour is the Makeup Revolution Ultra Cream Contour Kit I bet you can't guess which is my favourite shade? It's the perfect tone for my fair skin and it looks amazing on the skin. I always like to lock in the longevity by setting any cream products I use so they have a powder version of this palette so the shades match perfectly. I love how this looks on the skin.

If I want a more overall bronze-y look, then the Soap & Glory Wonderbronze Stick in Sundaze** is a really great cream sculpting stick which I use for warming up the complexion - not contouring as it is full of shimmer. The product I use every single day without fail is the Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow Sculpting Powder which I dust over my skin with a stippling brush to amp up the sun-kissed, bronzey-ness for that J-Lo glow.

Bronzed, Luminous Skin ✔️

IT'S TIME TO GET THE GLOW ONHighlighter is my favourite step of all my makeup application. Highlighter is my jam, it's my thing, I love it to death and I cannot have enough champagne gold highlights in my possession. So it should come as no surprise that I like to intensify my highlight by putting a cream base down first. The GOSH Lumi Drops come back in to play here, or the Soap & Glory Glow All Out Highlight Stick in Ice Shimmer** is also a great option. Both are similar tones and they give a beautiful natural sheen to the skin. I also really like the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone as this really amps up the glow factor, especially if you set it with the corresponding Pressed Powder version.
Then, to set that base I love the Laura Mercier Highlight 01 Powder, as well as the Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Brick in Pink Bronze*** which is a great drugstore highlight if you're a beginner at makeup and highlighting.

Bronzed, Luminous Skin ✔️✔️

FLUSHED CHEEKSBlush is a great tool to have under your belt for that extra fresh faced look, and with all the different formulas and finishes, it's a whirlwind of pink shimmery good-ness.
Continuing with the cream/liquid trend today, there are a few amazing formulas of liquid/cream blushes that will go hand in hand with a spring inspired makeup look. The Bourjois Aqua Blushes** are a product that I haven't see anywhere else. They're water-light gel blushes that add a very subtle, natural flush to the cheeks. If you want something a bit more shimmery and illuminating, the Soap & Glory Love At First Blush Stick in Pink, Pop & Pearl** is the product for you. It reminds me of the NARS Multiple (in the very inappropriate name, can you guess which product I am talking about?), but similarlily to the others, it is very shimmer so be careful if you have texture around your cheek areas, this may not be the product for you.
As for powder blushes, there's a handful that I just cannot get enough of, The Balm Frat Boy Blushthe Maxfactor Creme Puff Blushes in Seductive Pink & Lovely Pink** and the Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love. They're all stunning, all different shades of pinky/mauve and peachy shades and I stepped outside of my comfort zone with a couple and I am so glad I did as I love how they give me a rosy flush without being too OTT.

Fresh Faced ✔️

NOW FOR THOSE PEEPERS: (Ewww Jeepers Creepers song just popped into my head).
My eye makeup changes on a regular basis, I will wear a look for about a week and then switch it up the next week. But these are the shadows I am loving right now which would look great with the rest of this makeup I've mentioned. The Vivo Pearl Eyeshadow in Pale Gold, is exactly that, a pale gold. I love how this looks all over the lid with a light brown in the crease and winged liner. But for a slightly more smokey look, adding a bronze or olive tone to the outer corner would look stunning and the new Maxfactor Masterpiece Palettes** are perfect for this. I tend to use the Cappuccino Nudes (bottom) for an everyday kind of look, and then dip into the Golden Nudes (top) for some extra glam. I think these shadows go really well with the lip colours that I have picked out to have in my spring makeup bag.

Soft, Subtle Eye ✔️

THE LIP COLOURS: The final piece of the puzzle which brings the whole look together.
How awesome is this a transparent lip liner? I've seen that Rimmel have a Moisture Renew Lip Liner*** which is a cheaper alternative and easier to get your hands on, but the one I have at the minute is the Lord & Berry Lip Liner in Silhouette. I think it's a great concept that you have one lip liner and that's all you need no matter what lip colour you're wearing.
A pink lip is a great colour to wear in the spring to really get you out of that miserable winter funk. The Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Pink Punch** is a beautiful uplifting tone which you can use either dabbed on to the lips and smudged out, or applied to it's fullest opacity. It's hydrating but long-lasting as it leaves a stain behind which lasts all day. My newest lipstick is the Clinique Pop Lipstick+ Primer in Plum Pop which again I like to either dab on to the lips as a light wash of colour, or wear it full on. It's a really nice shade, not too pink, not too bright, but a great transition shade from Winter to Spring. Finally I also threw in this Boost Colour Enhancing Lip Balm from Arrow which I received in a subscription box this month. I really like the idea that it adjusts to your personal PH and all that jazz and on me, it's a really pretty natural pink so great to just throw on and take with you on the go.

Uplifting Pink Lip ✔️

When it comes to seasonal makeup bag switch around I am first to admit I enjoy trying out new looks, with new launches, and new focuses. So I hope I can inspire you to check out your makeup stash and see what goodies you have that's perfect for Spring.

That's it for my makeup bag change around. I am still loving my Clam Bag from Boots which holds all my makeup in that I am loving right now. So here's the makeup products, make sure you check back to see how the makeup looks and my current go to look.
