Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation Review

08:00

Today I thought I would do my review on the Clinique Beyond Perfecting 2 in 1 Foundation + Concealer which I purchased just over a week ago. I really am in love with this product and so I wanted to give you the full run down of my thoughts, the details and how it looks on my skin. Are you ready to see my naked face?

For £25 I think the Clinique Beyond Perfecting 2 in 1 Foundation + Concealer really is an amazing foundation. I love the finish, I love the coverage, I love the applicator, I love how easy it is to apply and blend even though it's quite a thicker foundation. I haven't tried any Clinique makeup before but I am so impressed with how this makes my skin look and I really have found another favourite foundation. So I am going to go through each claim Clinique makes and see if it's true or not. I hope you enjoy this style of review?

BEFORE: So, this is my naked face... this is what I'm working with, as you can see I have some scarring on my chin, some redness around my nose and I have freckles across my nose and cheeks so I have quite a few imperfections that I want to cover up.

AFTER: As you can see now, it's evened out my complexion. Covered the redness, and my freckles and although it hasn't covered some of the scarring on my chin, I don't mind that as I like my base to look natural still. Really love the finish, especially with the primer that I will mention in a minute, and I only add a few drops of the The Body Shop Lightening Drops just for a slightly lighter shade.

20 SHADES AVAILABLE: I found that although they do have a large shade range, the lightest shade which is what I got is 0.5 Breeze and even that's about 4 or 5 shades too dark for me, so I have to use the The Body Shop Lightening Drops to get my perfect shade. I also noticed that the darker shades aren't particularly very dark either (don't know if the The Body Shop Darkening Drops would be of any help with that issue), but there seems to be plenty of shades for the more light-to-medium skin tones, which is very annoying, as I have such fair skin that the only foundation that truly matches me perfectly is the NARS Sheer Glow in Siberia

FULL COVERAGE: Although it can be blended out to give a more light to medium coverage, I first apply the Becca Backlight Primer for a more luminous finish as that's what I prefer for my complexion, I then use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and the Beauty Blender to apply an even layer which gives a really nice finish and doesn't look cakey or like I'm even wearing anything more than a BB cream or something. Once I've done my first layer I go in with a smaller brush and cover up any areas that didn't quite cover initially, and then I go in with concealer for any stubborn blemishes or scars and for my dark circles.

"MAGIC WAND" APPLICATOR: The packaging is different, I really like the large doe foot although I put a bit on the back of my hand, I wouldn't apply straight from the applicator on to my face because if you get bacteria from spots or anything onto that applicator it's going to taint the product inside for the rest of it's use so it goes on the back of my hand first.
They say to use the tip for spot concealer, one dip covers your whole face, and use the back of the applicator to sweep across larger parts of your face,

COLOUR STAYS TRUE EVEN THROUGH SWEAT & HUMIDITY: Clinique says it can stand sweat and humidity and I haven't tested these to the fullest extent as we're in Winter but it does a pretty good job so far. They also say it's pigment rich formula will give you a flawless coverage and application and it may appear deeper at first but it adapts to your skin tone to give you a flawless, perfected finish.

LASTS ALL DAY WITHOUT CLOGGING PORES: This is something a lot of people will find a god send. Foundations with a heavier coverage or longer lasting formula can tend to be quite heavy and clog pores causing breakouts and blackheads, however with this lightweight yet moisturising formula, I don't have any of those problems, which is what I was most anxious about.

IT'S OIL FREE WITH A NATURAL MATTE FINISH: I only powder on my nose and under my eyes, otherwise, this doesn't need setting, it doesn't need any maintenance through the day from what I have experienced, although I do use the L'Oreal Infalliable Setting Spray in the morning and that keeps it in place until I remove it in the evening.

That's it for today's review. I hope you liked it, and if you have tried this foundation or end up picking it up, I would love to know what your thoughts are of it and how you like to apply it etc.
Plus, if you would like to see the rest of the products I used on my face in the main photo, then come back on Wednesday to find out.

What's your current favourite foundation?
