Blogmas Day #30 The 2015 Round Up #Makeup

I'm going to keep this as brief as possible as there's lot's to get through. I have tried not to mention anything I included in last years faves as you can just go and take a look at that one, so for this year let's knuckle down the cream of the crop, the best of the best. If you want to check out 2014's makeup faves then you can see that here

Alright let's go in order of application, first is primer and the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pure and the Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer have been my two faves. Both smoothing, pore perfecting but both quite hydrating at the same time. They are both really great products and although you don't need both, they are great used together and on their own.

Foundation next and this has been quite a tricky one as I have tried a lot of foundations. I would have to say for a full coverage kind of deal it would have to be the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation, but for an everyday, lighter coverage, the L'Oreal True Match Foundation is a firm fave this year. They re-formulated and re-packaged and I am definitely in the group that favours the new formula. I have also discovered the The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Light Drops which are basically little drops of heaven which allow me to customise (read as: make my foundations as fair as possible to fit my pale ass skin) which means I have a lot more choice when it comes to foundations.

Alright concealer now and although the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer is still a firm fave, a new combo has totally over ruled. First I use the Maybelline Anti Age Rewind Brightening Concealer to brighten and correct my dark circles, and then I go in with the NYX HD Concealer to conceal any extra bits and add some extra coverage if needed.

The powder category is a bit of a difficult one. Even though I'm not that in to powder, there's been a battle for my fave this year and I have to say the radiance powders are winning by a mile. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light is a great all over face powder to set but also to illuminate, but then Makeup Revolution came out with their version, the Radiance Palette and somehow they both collided and one is way more expensive than the other and to be really honest, I don't see much of a difference between the two, so for this category, I will just say illuminating powders are what I've leaned towards a lot this year.

Setting Spray:
Now for the setting sprays and I've tried out a couple so far and my favourite is without a doubt the L'Oreal Infalliable Setting Spray. This sets my makeup, settles down any powder and then keeps my makeup looking great throughout the day. I am so happy they now have it available in the UK now too.

By far my favourite bronzer is the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This is the perfect shade, tone, perfect formula, plus it smells amazing. It looks so great on my skin and I can go a tad overboard but it never looks ashy or too orange, it just looks beautiful and I am obsessed with this stuff. Too Faced has been a brand I have really discovered this year and so far everything has been amazing.

For my contour, it just has to be the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow, it's just so great for my skin, it can be sheered out for a natural contour or built up to be rather full on, either way it looks amazing and the highlight in this palette is stunning too.

Speaking of highlight there's a few that I have really enjoyed this year, first is the Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow Gel Highlight which I received in a subscription box and haven't been able to put it down. It looks incredible, it is natural but can be built up and the shade is just incredible. I love this and will always recommend if anyone is looking for a cream highlight. Which brings me on to my next highlight of choice this year. The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors, I have the shade moonstone in both the Liquid and the Powder illuminators and these are so incredible I cannot get over how beautiful the look on the skin and how well they last through the day.

To finish off the cheeks, is blush, and I have a few that I have become obsessed with. First let's start with the drugstore offering, and that is the Maxfactor Creme Puff Blushes, I love the shade Seductive Pink the most but they have a few other shades which are dupes to some more expensive ones which you'll see in another post soon. I discovered the Too Faced Love Flush in Baby Love this year which is more of a peachy tone and that's not normally a blush shade I go for, but the pigmentation, the longevity, it's all amazing and this blush is pretty affordable. Love it.
Finally is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes, I have two shades, Exposed and Dollface. These are pretty natural shades compared to the others and both are great for any kind of look which means they're versatile and well worth the slightly higher price tag.

Brows is another category that I have really experimented with this year. I still love the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil but I have gone back to the marker on their original Archery Pencil & Marker. It helps to create a really natural look without piling on the product and although I still love the pencil and have used it for most of the year, it's definitely my fave product for my brows. For brow gel I haven't been so faithful, but the one that's stood out the most this year is the one I am currently using and that's the Model Co Brow Gel. It's a great size wand, the colour is perfect for me and it keeps my brows in place without making them feel crispy or stuck to my face.

Eye Primer:
To prime my eyes I have used a few things but my fave is the Soap & Glory It's All About The Eyes as it is on a doe foot applicator so it's the most convenient, it keeps everything in place all day crease-free and it's from the drugstore so it's affordable.

i prefer my palettes that single shadows but there are a couple that really stand out this year, First is a cream shadow, the Maxfactor Excess Shimmer in Copper is such a beautiful all over the lid colour, simply sweep on and you're good to go as it won't budge, crease or fade through the day. As for powder shadows, also from the drugstore the  L'Oreal Color Riche Eyeshadow in Cafe Saint Germain is the most beautiful taupe/brown/silver/grey shadow that I've ever seen. it's shimmery, it's metallic if used wet, and it's simply incredible and I've gone through two this year.

Last year the Lorac Pro was my number one and it may still be, but there's a couple that I have loved this year that deserve a mention. So the Tarte Tartlelette Palettes, both the original which was all matte, and the In Bloom which had a mix of matte and shimmers, they look amazing, their versatile, they have a great selection of shades for so many different looks and preferences and I cannot fault them.
However I also love the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette which is slightly out of my comfort zone as it's very warm and shimmery, but I have really played around and it's in my top 5 favourite eyeshadow palettes ever.

Alright so for eyeliner, there's one winner when it comes to liquid liner, and that's the L'Oreal Perfect Slim Liquid Liner. This makes wings, thin lines, thick lines, any kind of liquid liner skills unnecessary because the nib of this marker does it all for you. I love this thing and I cannot live without it. As for kohl liners, my faves this year are the Barry M Bold Black Waterproof Liner and the Too Faced Perfect Black Liner. They're both pigmented, long lasting and so amazing on both the lash line, tight line and water line and stay all day. Love these both.

I actually splurged and purchased a higher priced mascara than my regular drugstore ones and I have to say the Benefit Roller Lash is a firm favourite this year. I love how this makes my lashes look, no clumps, no flaking, just perfectly defined, slightly lengthened, slightly thickened black lashes, The brush makes it so easy to use and create an amazing look to your lashes. No need for falsies which I am fine with as me and falsies do not get on.

Liquid Lipsticks:
Alright it's lip products now and you're probably all sick of hearing about these but the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets are a huge part of my makeup routine now. I love the shades Nudist, Plum Plum Girl and Don't Pink Of It as they're an incredible formula, last for hours, very pigmented and easy to wear.

Lip Crayons:
I know I mentioned these in last years round up but I love them so much I had to reiterate my fave shades to you for 2015. So they are of course the Maybelline Color Drama and my top 3 shades are Red Essential, Minimalist and Keep It Classy. They're just the best shades, formula, and so easy to apply and I just cannot explain how much I love these or the Bourjois REV's.

Finally for the lipstick category is the GOSH Matte Rose Lipstick. This is an affordable, MLBB kind of shade which just evens out the tone of my lips whilst adding a mauve-y-ness to them like nothing I've seen before. I love the formula, and I think it's a great product from the drugstore.

Lip Liners:
These were also mentioned last year too but again, I need to express my love for them again. They are the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners in East End Snob and Red Diva. These are the most pigmented, long lasting, easy to apply lip liners ever and the fact that they don't break the bank makes me love them even more. I haven't got round to picking out other shades yet but I will definitely be looking into them in 2016.

That's it for makeup, it's now on to my favourite tools of 2015, and I first wanted to start with my beloved Beauty Blender, this is possibly the best makeup applicator ever invented and I am obsessed. I can't go a day without using one of these, the way it blends in concealer and foundation it's like it's made out of unicorn tears and magic fairy dust. I think I'll leave the BB rave there but I highly recommend getting your hands on one of these if you haven't already, seriously, your makeup life won't be the same without it.

Okay, so now on to brushes and I have a rather unbalancing obsession for makeup brushes but I did discover a new brand which I have been loving and using every single day. They are the Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) Brushes, and these are available in the drugstore and have an incredible story behind them, which I won't go in to now but I highly recommend you go check out my review on these brushes here. But some of my faves are the Eye Blending Brush, Powder Brush, Angled Contour, Multi-tasking, the Concealer brush is amazing and well just all of them are.

I'm sure you all know who Real Techniques are but just in case you don't, they are created by two YouTubers called Sam and Nic Chapman and they designed this amazing brush range, they added to it this year by launching their Bold Metals Brushes which are slightly more expensive and look super luxe and chic in their metallic packaging but some of my fave brushes from RT are the Expert Face, Contour, Fan, Sculpt, Duo-Fibre Face, the BM Tapered Blush, Flat Contour and the Oval Shadow

Some random brushes for you now, and I discovered the Superdrug B. Angled Contour/Blush Brush towards the end of the year but I love how it applies blush and bronzer and I just had to mention it.
The pencil brush from the Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 1 Palette is my favourite pencil brush ever which I use for the lower lashes, the outer corner, as faux liner and generally just for precise blending. It's such an incredible brush and I wish I they sold it on it's own because I would have hundreds of those things floating around in my collection.
There's also a flat brush with no name that I have found incredibly useful for my lower lash line. Just thought I would mention that one.

Okay, I think that's it for my makeup favourites of 2015. Come back tomorrow if you want to see what skincare products I have been loving this year, and to see what makeup I was loving in 2014 then you can see that here
