Neutral Blushers That Go With Any Bold Eye Or Lip Look

Can't decide whether you want a bold eye or bold lip? That's a decision you're going to have to make on your own I'm afraid, that's a battle I cannot assist with, today anyway. But what you can put on your cheeks? That I can help with.
With the holiday season coming up, a good neutral blush is a must have when you're going bold on either the eyes or the lips and so I thought I would share with you my favourites.

Starting with the high end offerings, the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed, on some, can be used as almost a blush/contour/bronzer, but for me I just love this on the cheeks as a neutral flush. It's especially great with a red lip and works perfect with a nude lip colour too, especially when it's a mauve/neutral kind of pink like this blush. I also have Dollface and Posh which are more on the pink side, but they're still beautiful colours and have great staying power.

I'm sure you knew these would be in here but there is a particular shade from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette which works great with a smokey eye and red lip. The shade I am talking about is Mood Exposure which is a mauve plum kind of shade and this formula is great for a glowy look.

If you are looking for a drugstore version to the Hourglass Blushes as they are pretty expensive, then the Maxfactor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve (left) & Seductive Pink (right) are a very similar colour, formula and finish. They look amazing on the skin and they're under a tenner. Plus there's some other shades in the range which are equally as stunning.

Finally is another drugstore priced product and the Milani Rose Blushes look absolutely stunning and the shade Tea Rose is almost an exact colour match to Tarte Exposed when on the cheeks and as it's matte it doesn't cause any distraction against the main focus points of your look, it's job is simply to provide a light pink flush to the cheeks.

Just to give you a bit of idea as to how these look on the skin here's some swatches. It's quite difficult taking photos of this and getting the accurate colour so I apologise if it's a little darker than the other photos.

All of these products are great for doing any kind of look and I highly recommend checking them out if you haven't already.

Do you have any neutral blushes that you like to use when you're going for a dark lip or smokey eye?

  1. Im a huge fan of the Hourglass blush palette and recently picked up one of the Max Factors to see how they compared. I must say, while not entirely dupeable, they really are pretty pretty blushes x
