Summer Edit Week: My Summer Essentials

Starting from today I will be posting every single day throughout the month of July and for the first week, I'm starting with my Summer Edit.

So today's post is all about my summer essentials, from makeup to perfume. I'm going to go through the products I use to stay summer ready.

Self Tanner Essentials
Starting with the most obvious one when it comes to summer which is self tanner. Sitting outside in the sun all day, every day is not the best idea so faking it is the safest way. The St Tropez Express Self Tanner is by far my favourite tan ever, it's a mousse so it's light and easy to apply, it doesn't dry out my skin and it takes a maximum of 3 hours to get a great tan that looks natural and that doesn't make me look like iceberg tango'ed which is always a great thing. If I haven't applied my self tanner or I feel I need a bit more on my legs or something, the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs is basically body makeup which you can use to top up your tan in seconds. I use a tanning mitt for both of these products - if you want to know more about my self tanning routine, my top tips and essentials will be up later in the week.

Body Care Essentials
The body products that I reach for tend to be the same as I have quite sensitive skin on my body so if I find something that works for me then I will stick with it. I love the Radox Coconut Shower Gel as it smells incredible and isn't too offensive but it still makes my skin smell nice and coconutty which I love. The body lotion I have used for the last year or so is the Garnier Oil Beauty Nourishing Lotion as this just makes my skin feel so soft and smooth that its great for when I'm self tanning and just as an everyday lotion.

Hair Essentials
My hair tends to get oilier a lot faster in the hotter months so I rely a lot on dry shampoo. My favourite ones I've found so far are the Toni & Guy Matt Texture Dry Shampoo and the Tresemme Volumising Dry Shampoo. Both get rid of oil fast and gives a boost to the roots which instantly looks refreshed.

Nail Essentials - -
The Barry M Sunset Nail Polishes and Top Coat are definitely my favourite releases this year. Any time I switch and use another polish I find it doesn't last anywhere near as long as they never look as good as these. I have the shades Do it like a nude which is by far my favourite-est nail polish ever. I know, bold statement but very true, I just love it. Next is Make me teal and the there's Fuchsia Generation. The Daylight Curing Top Coat is what really makes this range incredible and I really do highly recommend Barry M on the whole but this line is incredible.

Skincare Essentials
Its important to keep your skin clean and free from oil and pollutants to using a good manual exfoliator every few days is a great way to prevent clogged pores and breakouts, my favourite is the Soap & Glory Scrubatomic. I also like to use the GlamGlow SuperMud Mask to keep any breakouts at bay as it gets rid of spots faster than anything else and it also exfoliates the skin too. To add some hydration back into the skin the Glam Glow ThirstyMud is a great overnight treatment to hydrate and nourish but also to soothe the skin if you've been in the sun all day and just need to cool your skin down - plus I think this mask smells like the summer. Finally for an all round refresher, soothing face spray the The Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist is great to set your makeup, freshen up your skin after a trip to the beach or the pool or something. Its just a great all round product that I've used and loved for a long time and one I highly recommend.

Makeup Essentials
First is a good primer. These are hard to come by as it depends on what kind of skin you have, where you will need to apply it, your skin concerns etc. But I chose the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Base as well as the L'Oreal Nude Magique Blur Cream as I find one of these would be great for all skin types. Smoothing out pores and uneven skin tone, or giving a glowy base for those with dry skin. I also threw in the Kiehls Micro-Blur Skin Perfector, this is very similar to Benefit Porefessional or the L'Oreal Blur Cream in that it smooths out the skin and obviously helps your makeup last longer.
Next is illuminator and my favourites for the summer are the more bronze-y toned ones so the Jelly Pong Pong All Over Glow Benefit Sun Beam are my go to's for creating a sun-kissed glow.
To give your skin that bronze colour my favourite products are the Maybelline Master Sculpt in Light/Medium which is a matte bronzer and then the Famous Baked Bronzer is what I use to add even more glow and bronzey-ness to the skin.
Finally is powder, and this is important for anyone who gets quite oily skin throughout the day or if you need your makeup to last all day in the heat, and my current faves are the Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot and the Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder as both of these are translucent so they don't make your skin look cakey or too powder.

You're probably sick of people going on about wearing sunscreen, but it is so important to protect your skin that your skin will thank you. It seems very odd me saying this as I was never one to wear sun screen, I always thought I would just not wear it and then I would burn like a biatch and hate myself, that happened more times than I care to admit but I have now learnt how important it is. Anywho, my current favourites are from my favourite drugstore skincare brand, yep you guessed it Soap & Glory and their specific SPF is the Make Yourself Youthful Sunshield SPF 50 and I use this when I know I am going to be outside in the sun all day. It's such a great drugstore option as sunscreen for your face can be very difficult to find that sits nicely on your skin, but that also doesn't break you out. I also like the Feel Good Factor SPF 25 which I use on an everyday basis all year round as it has the protection and is a great moisturiser too.
Body SPF is just as important, I still use the same as in last years Summer Essentials the Nivea ones, see here as I find that its easy to apply, doesn't require much effort and it works great. If you have any SPF recommendations then I would love to hear them.

Summer Fragrance
I prefer the warmer, musky kind of scents when it comes to perfume but in the Summer there are a select few that I always go back to because they just make me happy and I know when I am wearing them that it is summertime. It has to be the Marc Jacobs Perfumes, I love the Daisy Eau So Fresh as well as the Daisy Dream and although these are mini sizes, they often come in a set which has a refill so you can just top it up when the initial perfume runs out. Very handy and I just prefer getting those as I don't use these fragrances all year round, so I don't like the idea of getting a big bottle and then it going to waste and not being used all that often, even though the bottles of the Marc Jacobs perfumes are beautiful.
