Spring Edit: The Makeup Bag #13 The Spring 2015 Edition (Drugstore)

08:00

Spring officially starts today :)

First I hadn't done one of these posts in a couple of months and now this is the second in 2 weeks. But today is all about the beginning of spring and getting your makeup routine spring ready. It's also to show you some of my current favourites too.

In the spring it's getting slightly warmer, meaning your makeup can tend to slide around, or wear off completely, so I would recommend some kind of primer, either a pore perfecting, hydrating, luminous kind of thing. I like dewey skin all year round but for those of you who don't, it's time to get your glow on.

Kicking off with my weapon of choice today, the L'Oreal Magique Blur Cream and I really love this stuff. You may have seen my review/face off with this which you can check out here. I like to apply this mainly in the centre of my face and work out to the edges.
For base I've been using the Rimmel Match Perfection Nude Foundation a lot, and I often like to mix in the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Base as this gives a beautiful glow to the skin with no glitter in sight. To conceal dark circles and blemishes I use the Sleek Corrector & Concealer Palette which has a pink shade for dark circles, skin tone shade for blemishes as well as a powder to set it all in place. Handy little kit that takes up barely any room in a makeup bag.

Onto the cheeks now and I've been loving the Soap & Glory Solar Powder which is a really nice shade and is great for pale skin. Then it's time to move to blusher and the Maxfactor Creamy Blush in Soft Pink is a beautiful shade for the spring and summer months and gives a lovely sheen to the skin making it look super healthy and fresh. If you need some extra highlight at this point, the MeMeMe Liquid Highlighter is my drugstore highlight of choice. It's a liquid and is identical to High Beam from Benefit but for less than a quater of the price.

Onto brows and of course it's the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil that is the perfect size to add tiny hairs into those brows to make them appear fuller. Then I go in with the L'Oreal Brow Plumper to set it all in place.

For eyes I'm using the Makeup Revolution Iconic 1 & 2 Palettes today. The shades don't have names so I've numbered them to make this easier. I'm using palette one first and the shade 3 for the crease and 2 & 4 for all over the lid. Second palette, shade 3 is to highlight inner corner and brow bone, 5 is to deepen the crease and smudge onto the lower lashline and shade 11 is to darken the outer corner and drag slightly into crease, and outer portion of lower lashes. Hope that makes sense.
If you're looking for something more accessible then the Collection Nude Shadows Palette is a greT product got the price, it's pigmented, doesn't crease and there's a few different palettes to choose from. Really impressed with these palettes and I'm pretty sure they're under a fiver each.

I will either apply the Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Eyeliner in Black on the top and bottom water lines and maybe smudged on the top lashline, but you could also use the NYC Liquid Eyeliner and create a wing or whatever. My current look is the smudged liner on the top lashes and I like to wing it out slightly too. My current favourite mascara is the Maxfactor Clump Defy Mascara and I add a couple of coats to top and bottom lashes and that's eye done. This mascara makes my lashes really fluttery which is great for an everyday look. The Maybelline Sensational Mascara is also really great, review will be coming up on a few different mascaras soon.

The Maybelline Color Elixirs are a great everyday lip product. They're pigmented like a lipstick, glossy like a lip gloss and moisturising like a lip balm. They have an amazing collection of shades and they're so easy to work with and apply. If you can't get your hands on these for any reason, the L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire's are pretty much the same and they're just as good.

Hope you liked today's post and have enjoyed spring week. I sure have. What will you be switching up in your makeup bag to get ready for Spring?

Are you excited for Spring?
