Pamper in a Pinch

Today we're talking pampering in a pinch - whether it's down to your budget or you're struggling to find time - pampering yourself is the easiest and quickest way to de-stress and unwind. Light a candle, turn off your phone and enjoy these 3 things that you can do at home for your very own pamper sesh.

1. Time to relax...
Before we get into the skincare and what not, I wanted to touch base on how I like to start any pampering time to make sure I really relax. So, I turn everything off, phone, tv, ipad, whatever it may be, and I get into comfy clothes. Then, I sit down on my bed, legs crossed (if I can) close my eyes, and concentrate on my breathing. This really helps just to centre myself so I can really enjoy my me time. I normally sit for about 5 minutes just clearing my mind, letting everything from the day go. When I feel calm enough that I am happy and ready for some pampering, that's when I grab my towel and head to the bathroom.

2. The Skincare Stuff...

- Bath/shower - Getting clean and washing away the tension and stress from the day is the best way to feel a tad more refreshed. Showers are a great pick me up, whether you're poorly, had a crappy day or just feel a bit "meh". Dig out the nice body scrub or special bath product that you keep for special occasions, because this is the perfect time to use it. Enjoy the peace and quiet (as best you can) or play some relaxing music.

(Superdrug Naturally Radiant Radiance Mask // Liz Earle Brightening Treatment // Deep Cleansing Mask // The Body Shop Seaweed Clay Mask

- Face Mask - Something fast like the Liz Earle masks, or something you can have on whilst you do the rest of the steps is perfect. Any radiance boosting, deep cleansing clay or hydrating mask will do. Face masks are the first thing that comes to my mind when you say the word pamper, so remove any makeup and whack on a face mask. Let the relaxing begin...

(Garnier Beauty Oil Oil & Lotion // Soap & Glory Body Butter // The Body Shop Argan Oil Body Butter)

- Moisturise - This is the step that finishes off your pamper routine and relaxes you until morning. Apply your favourite body moisturiser and an overnight nourishing face mask, like the Origins Drink Up Intensive Over Night Mask, to make yourself all nice and soft from head to toe, and ready to get into your favourite pjs or onesie.
Before bed, I've been trying to do a bit of mediatation to clear my mind and help me relax. It's something I've only recently started so can't say a huge amount about it and it takes a while to get into the mind frame but it seems to be going well so far.

3. Give those nails some love...

Nothing says pampering like some freshly preened and primed nails and if you're going to do them yourself, you've got to do it right from the start. Shaping, buffing and treating your nails is as important if not more than just painting them. Nice nails, nice mani. I love this O.P.I. Nail Polish in Taupe-less Beach as a neutral, everyday colour. But it's also nice to add a bright colour like pink to lift your mood and be more cheery, even if it is winter and the weather is pretty crappy.

Stress & Anxiety
I wanted to touch on this subject quickly as I've been trying to make my life more positive and stop moping around waiting for things to be okay. Shit happens. But I've been trying to just stop, take a work, re-evaluate and calm down. Then, face challenges head on with a positive mind. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not like that at all, but I have been trying yoga and meditation as a tool to calm my mind and body, relieve stress and anxiety, and hopefully help with my health conditions too. Someone with fibromyalgia and arthritis and pain 24/7 everywhere, doesn't often have moments where they are feeling positive or refreshed, but recently, I have been and I like it.
If you want to hear more about what I'm doing and how it's helping me then feel free to ask in the comments.

I hope this has been some what helpful. The 3 steps are what I do whenever I have had a bad day and just need to chillax, and I will definitely keep you updated on the whole meditation and yoga thing (if I can get the hang of it).

What are your quick and easy pampering essentials?

** Disclaimer - I am not a health and fitness professional. I have done lots of research as to what yoga poses and exercises I can do safely and with little pain inflicting techniques as possible.
