NARS Virtual Domination Palette (+dupe)

08:00

I recently picked up this Virtual Domination Palette from NARS which I have fallen completly in love with. So I wanted to give you a review and my thoughts on it. Plus, I also have a drugstore dupe for 3 of the shades so you'll see that at the end.

(Clockwise from top left: Miss Liberty, Deep Throat, Laguna, Final Cut, Sex Fantasy)

This palette can be bought from NARS or Space NK although it is limited edition so I don't know how long it will be available for.

The packaging is white with a patterned overlay, and it has a big mirror inside. It is quite heavy but the packaging is sturdy so if you wanted to travel with it then you could.

Inside are 5 shades. A bronzer which is the infamous Laguna, that has golden shimmer running through it and is a perfect bronzing shade even for my ridiculously pale skin. Then a highlighter called Miss Liberty which is quite a pale champagne highlighter, but it has too much glitter in it for my liking so I'm not a huge fan but it would be okay for going out or a special occasion or something, too intense for everyday use. And then there's 3 blushers, Sex Fantasy which is a limited edition blush and is a pale pink/lavender shade. Deep Throat which is in the permanent collection and is a beautiful pinky/peach shade with golden shimmer running through it. Finally is Final Cut which is another limited edition shade, and this is a matte peachy/coral shade which would be perfect for summer. In regards to application and longevity, application is always smooth, blendable and pigmented and last all day, plus, they would like great on lots of different skin tones.

What's great about this palette is that there's 10g of the Laguna bronzer which is 2g more than what the full size has. As for the blushers and highlighter, full size they come in at 4.8g, in this palette they're 4.5g so not a huge amount of difference which is great for a palette like this.
With the bronzer being £27 for full size and blushers £23, this palette has a value of £117. Which is great considering it is only £45. Definitely a bargain and if you can still get it then I highly recommend picking it up, before it goes.

Drugstore Dupe:

(Left to right: Sleek Blusher, NARS Deep Throat, Sleek Bronzer, NARS Laguna Bronzer, Sleek Highlighter, NARS Miss Liberty)

If you aren't able to get your hands on the NARS palette then don't worry. I have found a drugstore dupe which is a quarter of the price and just as good in quality. Only difference is that there's on 3 shades in the palette, not 5. Introducing...

The Sleek Contouring & Blush Palette (light)

This palette can be picked up for under £10 in Boots or Superdrug. It's a great little palette and as you will be able to see, it's just as good as the NARS palette.
With all of these shades I'm showing you, they are only very slightly different but nothing that is dramatically different or noticeable.
From the NARS palette, the bronzer "Laguna", the blush in "Deep Throat" and the "Miss Liberty" highlighter, are very similar to the products in this Sleek palette and once I've used it, I don't even notice a difference in how it looks compared to the more expensive option.

I hope you have enjoyed today's review and an alternative drugstore option.
