The Makeup Bag #11 The Christmas Edition

It seems like forever ago since I've done a makeup bag post so I thought it was about time to get a winter edition done.

So I'm going to go through some of my key makeup items for doing a classic look this winter.

1. Cover Dark Circles
When dark circles are covered, I can see the finish line. My favourite combo is first the salmony shade from the Sleek Conceal & Correct Palette and then the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. Love it.

2. Get The Glow Out
Glowy skin is my favourite thing. Skin can look 100% better with a nice radiant glow. The L'Oreal Lumi Magique Base is my current favourite luminising primer. It gives a sheen to the skin which just looks stunning I think and prevents your skin from looking too dry or cakey or even too powdery. It peeks through your makeup and I think everyone needs this, especially for the winter.

3. Define Brows
This has changed my life. I never used to fill in my brows and now I have to every single day, even if I'm not wearing makeup. Next time you put on your makeup. Fill in one brow and leave the other one bare and you will see just how much difference it makes. I love the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil and they recently updated it slightly and added a spoolie on rather than the marker bit. It's apparently exactly like the Anastasia Brow Wiz right down to the size of the lids. But Soap & Glory Archery is slightly cheaper. Add a brow gel like Benefit Gimme Brow and that's the brows sorted.

4. Prime & Set Eyelids
Priming your eyelids is so important as it makes sure you don't get any creasing or movement and also helps to cancel out any veins or redness around that area. Although we're not using much eyeshadow, it doesn't hurt to help your eyeliner go on better too. You can either use an actual primer, or a cream shadow as a base for your eye makeup.

5. The Wing
Now for the bit everyone hates. Getting the liner the same. Those darn wings have a mind if their own and never go the same. The Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner is great for beginners and to get the initial shape, but the NYC Liner is good to sharpen up the line and wing. If you're more comfortable with a gel liner and brush, the Maybelline Lasting Finish is a great drugstore option.

6. The Classic Lip
I have lots of options for the red lip but I'm going to go with something classy and festive. A bright red. My favourite is the Maybelline Color Drama in Light it up and then you could  add Maxfactors Lipstick in Cherry Kiss for some extra moisture or if you aren't a fan of completely matte lips.

Honourable Mentions:
For eyes, I keep it pretty simple, especially if I'm doing a bold red or berry lip. I've been loving the Maxfactor Excess Shimmer Pots which you would have seen in wuite a few posts. They are so awesome and when you apply them, you have 30 seconds to mess around with it and then after that they're on and they're on for good. They last so long, they don't crease whatsoever (even without a primer) and the consistency of these is very different to anything I've tried before. They're not even close to the Maybelline Color Tattoos as the consistency and everything is just a bit better and longer lasting.

I always line my top and bottom waterline with an eyeliner, normally black or brown, and the ones I've been loving recently is the Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Eyeliner. These are awesome. So pigmented, last ages and don't smudge as much as the Rimmel ones do by the end of the day so I really like these and I will be getting some other colours I think.
I recently had a Black/Brown False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara as a gift with purchase and I haven't used any other mascara other than black but I already love the mascara anyway and I've been using the black/brown and I really like it. I do still wear the black one sometimes but this has been a nice change.

So I have a few lip options for you for different occasions or preferences.

I'm not normally one for dark lips but this shade is just beautiful and I wanted to show you the full colour this gives. I tend to use it quite lightly but for a more dramatic and out there look, this shade in Berry Much is perfect.

I also like the shade Minimalist which is slightly lighter and more pink toned. I like to pair this with the Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob (which is supposed to be a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk which I've wanted for ages but it's far to expensive for a lip liner) which I put all over the lips and then Minimalist over the top. Love this combo. Classic nude, flattering to my skin tone and goes with any look.

I also picked up the red shade in Red Essential which is a great shade of red. These lip crayons are really long lasting and they're supposed to be a dupe for the NARS lip crayons so I'm pleased I was able to pick these ones up instead as they're much cheaper.

Have you tried the Maybelline Color Drama Lip Crayons?
