2014 Favourites (1)

It's coming to the end of 2014 and so it's time for my annual favourites.

Kicking off the annual favourites this year is the hair products I've been loving and will always have in my routine.

Hair Care
The stand out products in my hair care and styling routines have definitely been the Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle as well as the Protect & Oil which are just great products and is the exact reason why I love monthly subscription boxes as Birchbox introduced me to these products and I've got some others on my wishlist from the brand which I'm keen to try.

The Living Proof Prime Style Extender was also a must have for my hair. This stuff is just magic, I love it. It's like a face primer, but for your hair. I tend to mix this in with the John Freida Frizz Ease Original Serum as I've found this is great for smoothing down my hair and get rid of the frizz which I'd been noticing a lot before I used this product.

Hair Tools
For heat tools, I've been obsessed with my GHD Hair Straightner that I got for Christmas 2013. I'd never had a pair of these and I will never get anything other than this brand for straighteners. I'm keen to try the curling wand too. Speaking of curling wands, the Babyliss Pro Curl has been the only wand I've used. It's the perfect size for my long hair and it gives nice smooth, bouncy waves and although I've burnt myself a lot using this, and no longer have any finger prints, I highly recommend it.

Hair Styling
My favourite texturising spray this year has to be the Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray, this not only gives extra texture and volume but it has some hold to it too so it will keep the style in place for longer.
Finally for hair is dry shampoo and my favourite-est one ever is the Tresemme Volumising Dry Shampoo. I've repurchased this so many times and even when I try new ones, I always come back to this.

With yearly favourites, it's difficult to remember what I was loving at the beginning of the year. Which is why I love my weekly round ups and monthly favourites. I had to be careful not to just put in my current favourites, rather than what I have really loved all year. I'm sure looking through my makeup looks that I've done in 2014 you know most of what will be in this section but I'm going to go through in order of application so I don't forget any of it, and be as brief as I can as there's a lot to go through.

First is face primer and the one I always go back to and that gives me the best results is the Benefit The Porefessional. The L'Oreal Lumi Magique is my favourite for giving a nice glow to the skin, and I just love how it makes my skin look.

For foundation I have 3 favourites that I'm sure you can all guess straight away. First is the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. Then there's the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and the NARS Sheer Glow. All 3 of these are what I always go back to as they're my fail safe base products.

For concealer, I'm obsessed with the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer which I just love for under my eyes and to cover redness or blemishes around my face. Then for blemishes and correcting dark circles is the Sleek Correct & Conceal Palette. It's affordable and has great coverage.

To set my under eye concealer I have been using the Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder and I just think it looks stunning under the eyes, because it brightens and has the most beautiful finish for a powder. Next is the beautiful Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused light. This gives a beautiful finish to my skin, without looking cakey.

The most used bronzer this year has definitely been the The Body Shop Honey Bronzer. This is great for those who have really fair skin like me as the shades are really light. As for contouring which I've really got into this year is the NYX Blush in Taupe. It's my favourite product to use as it gives a really nice, natural shadow and is so easy to apply and blend.

Blushers have been a favourite product in general for me this year and I've especially been experimenting more with cream formulas. My two favourite particular cream blushes are the No7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush in Classic Rose and the Bourjois Cream Blush in 03 I've used both of these all year and I think they are so great and so affordable. For powder blushers, my favourite for the year is definitely the MAC Blusher in Well Dressed. I used this for a long while before I even looked at another blush so this definitely needed a place in the favourites.

Sticking with the cheeks, I've really been in to wearing highlighter this year and some of my favourites are the The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer which is such a beautiful champagne gold shade, along with the Kryolan Cashmere Highlighter, which I like to apply with my beauty blender on my cheekbones and it gives the most beautiful glow I've ever seen.

Finishing Spray
My final favourite for the complexion is the NYX Dewey Finish Setting Spray. I really like how it settles powder in to the skin so it doesn't look cakey and gives a really nice finish to the skin.

Now it's on to the brows and my favourite brow product ever is the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil. This year I really experimented with my eye brows and this pencil was by far my favourite and the easiest for me to use. I then go over that with the Benefit Gimme Brow to add some definition whilst setting it all in place for the rest of the day. This brow gel is also great to use on it's own too for a more relaxed, natural look.

Eye Base
Now for the eyes and starting with eye primer, I've been loving the Garnier Miracle Blur For Eyes as my eye primer. For cream eyeshadows the Maybelline Color Tattoos are by far my favourites this year, and they  brought out a few different collections with different shades so I've been loving experimenting with those.

Eyeshadow & Palettes
I've got two single eyeshadow favourites which you can probably guess what they are. Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Willow and Rimmel Eyeshadow in Smokey Quartz. These look great by themselves or together or mixed with other shadows so I love how versatile and easy these ones are.
For eyeshadow palettes, I've really upped my collection this year and my absolute favourites have to be the Lorac Pro Palette which is just phenomenal, and also the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette which is great for travelling and I use them both pretty much everyday.

Eyeliner & Mascara
The Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner is the best liner I've found for getting a super precise wing. As for kohl eyeliners, the Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Liners are the ones I used all year I think. The Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara with the Maybelline Go Extreme Mascara combo is by far my favourite for the year and are definitely a necessity for getting thick, voluminous lashes.

Now for lips, don't worry, we're nearly there.
When it comes to my favourite lip products, there's quite a few that I've been loving throughout the entire year so I'm just going to show you my absolute favourite shades of each. This is a yearly favourites so I have tried lots of lip products but these are the stand out ones from the entire year.

L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire  - Molto mauve, Rose Symphony //
Revlon Matte Balms - Elusive, Striking //
Maybelline Color Dramas - Light it Up, Keep it Classy //
Soap & Glory Matte Lipsticks - Pom Pom, Blush Pink //
Soap & Glory Gloss Sticks - Nudist,  Raplumzel //
Maybelline Color Elixirs - Signature Scarlet, Captivating Carnation //
Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liners - East End Snob & Diva Red //

Makeup favourites all done, I wanted to quickly touch base on some of my favourite tools of the year. The Real Techniques Brushes are always a favourite as they're such good quality at amazing prices so I really have been loving them and trying the different shapes.
Also, I've really enjoyed using the Sigma Kabuki Brushes. The Round and Pointed Kabuki's are my favourite.
But the Beauty Blender is probably my favourite tool of the whole year. It's amazing, and I love how it makes my makeup look.
Also, the Japonesque Eye Lash Curler has been my favourite one. It's so much easier than the cage looking ones and less daunting.

Check back on Friday for the next part of my favourites.
