Prepping your skin for a night out


So Christmas has been and gone and it's now time to see in the new year. 2014 has gone by so fast and I can't believe it's going to be the year 2015 in 48 hours.

Anyway, on to today's post, following on from my beauty detox post on Boxing Day following the festivities. I thought I would share with you some tips on preparing your skin for a night out and the steps I take to get ready for New Year's Eve celebrations. 

1. Face Mask - I always do a face mask before a special occassion and I especially like to do a radiance boosting mask for obvious reasons. I really think they make a difference. You could do a clay mask too if you have particularly clogged pores or problematic skin as this will help to reduce and spots you may have and calm down any redness. 

2. Drink Lots of Water - I know I mentioned this is the detox post but drinking water is so important. I pretty much only drink water (apart from the occasional orange fanta) and I've noticed such an amazing change in how plump my skin is. It also helps to keep you hydrated if you're going to be knocking back the champagne. 

3. Eye Cream - Whether it's just for hydration, or to smooth fine lines, an eye cream is essential in my get ready routine as it makes my concealer go on a lot smoother and it looks flawless. 

4. Lip Scrub - If you're going to be wearing a bold lip, you better make sure you scrub those lips so they're smooth and soft, and ready for that New Years kiss. You can either use a pre-made store one, or you could just use a muslin cloth as that works too. Failing that you could make your own using some sugar, olive oil and you can add coconut oil or honey for extra nourishment.

Be sure to keep some aspirin and a big glass of water by your bed for when you get home. To any of you who will be going out for New Years, I hope you have a wonderful night and stay safe.
