Chloe & Annie’s Top Autumn Lipsticks

A & C: Hi there, Annie & Chloe here from twolittleowls (click to visit our blog!), the lovely Sophie asked us to write a guest post for her, so we are here share our top Autumn lipsticks with you lovely readers. Autumn is our absolute favourite time of year for both fashion and make-up and it is the perfect time of year to update your make up bag and try something new. So here goes, our top lipstick picks for Autumn!

Annies Picks:

This is one of my favourite times of year, yes I love the scarves and wooly tights and knitted cardigans. But I also love the make up. The deep reds, berry purples and gold shimmers. My three go to lipsticks for this time of year are exactly those colours too;

Fig Brown Joli Rouge by Clarins

This is such a beautiful Autumn lipstick. The rich berry shade has a brown undertone and it is one of the darkest lipsticks in the range by Clarins. It is far from subtle and you do have to be pretty daring to wear it. I combine it with a simple winged liner and subtle contouring - making sure all of the focus is on the lips. The pigmentation is amazing and it is super moisturising, but to be totally honest the wear doesn't last that long - it's definitely a lipstick which needs to be reapplied.

Birthday Suit by Rimmel

This is a more subtle lipstick, a lovely nude with a gold shimmer. It's perfect for more every day use, but also good for a night out when layered more on the lips. The consistency is good and isn't at all drying, and it lasts for ages too, without reapplying.

Voodoo by Elf

A perfect Autumn colour, a deep tone of red with a matte finish. I adore this lipstick. It's super cheap (cost me about £1.95!!), and has the qualities of a high-end lipstick; moisturising, long-lasting wear, amazing pigmentation and an all-round lovely product to use. The packaging does let this product down, it's really clumsy and awkward - but when you're paying a price like I did, you don't expect beautiful packaging, it's all about the product itself. I would highly recommend this range from ELF and will definitely be buying more.

Chloe’s Top Picks

Similarly to Annie, I love wearing darker lip colours during Autumn/Winter and I have tried to pick a range of wearable colours (there were too many to choose from!)

Isabella By Lila ‘Lli

The perfect Autumnal nude for me which includes both a lipstick and lip gloss. You can wear both separately for a matte, nude lip or a sheer glossy look but together they are AMAZING. I love wearing the lipstick on its own during the day and then adding the gloss for a night time look. It also lasts for a good three hours before you have to reapply and wears evenly

Shade 1 by MUA

A dark autumnal red for £1, what more could you possibly want? I love dark reds this time of year and this is perfect if you want to start experimenting with lip colours and don’t want to invest all of your dollah. The wear time on this is only about an hour, which you expect for £1 but the colour? It’s actually perfect, so I am more than happy to keep reapplying. Perfect for adding a little something during the day but can be worn for a night out too.

Va Va Violet by Revlon
The more risky of my choices is this dark purple. Not a colour I would have dare wear previously, but now one of my favourites. This is the perfect time of year to try out something new so why not go all out? It is easy to apply – even though its such a dark colour you don’t need a lip liner or anything. It also lasts several hours and wears evenly. My only recommendation would be that you exfoliate your lips before applying this (or any dark colour) as otherwise it can cling to any really dry patches!
