A Feature: Products I regret buying

08:00

When I am in the market for a particular product, I do my research first, especially when it comes to products that are on the higher end of the price spectrum. But unfortunately, no matter how much you research and think you're on to a winner, it's a complete fail. Here are those fails, rounded up into one post.

1. Bobbi Brown Long Lasting Foundation
This was a high end purchase that I did a lot of research on. Luckily I got it with a discount so I didn't pay full price for it, but I was really gutted when I tried this. First of all, I'm pretty sure it broke me out. Secondly, I think the shade was okay and matched me fine, but it just didn't do anything. I tried to layer it and it looked like I had a mask on. I tried applying it with different tools, it just wasn't having any of it. Plus. It smells really strong which I think it was the fragrance that broke me out in the first place along with other things. So I really wasn't happy with this, and unfortunately in the UK we can't return things that have been used so I have to find a way to use it, or sell it to someone who will like it. I keep trying it every now and then on one area of my face to see how it does but it's a gigantic failure. Clearly research doesn't always pay off.

2. Drugstore BB Creams
I wish I could say I have found a BB cream that was a good shade match, did something for my skin and was a good find. The Garnier BB Creams and the L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream were complete and utter fails. Initially I thought the L'Oreal one would be okay t slough it days it's for fair skin tones, it's not and it's very orange and unnatural. The same with the Garnier ones. They're so hyped up but they're completely pants for those with a paler skin tone.

3. Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara
Maybelline mascaras are the ones I never have any problems with, but for some reason this one just didn't work for me. It has a bigger brush for the top lashes and a skinny brush for the lower lashes. I only use the skinny one for my lower lashes, although it's not amazing, it will do until I use it up. The other end for your top lashes is, to be honest, completely pants. It doesn't do anything for my lashes and I was really disappointed with it.

4. Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
These were very hyped up when they were available in the states, and when they came over to the Uk they flew off the shelves, it took me ages to find any. But when I did, I picked up Pink Punch, Peach Kiss and Cherry something, and I thought they were great originally. But then I noticed my lips were getting more and more dry and chapped and I couldn't wear lipstick for a ages. Every time I wear one of these, especially the red one, my lips just get really dry and I'm quite disappointed, but at the end of the day, there are better lip balms out there for a cheaper price. Although I do like the colour of the Pink Punch one so I wear that sometimes but I put on a really thick lip balm first.

5. L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara & L'Oreal Miss Manga Mascara
Clearly I'm hard to please when it comes to mascara. L'Oreal is probably one of my favourite brands at the drugstore, it has great products from all categories which is difficult to find, but the mascaras just don't work for me. The Telescopic is very popular so I thought I would give it a try. At first glance the brush didn't wow me, but I have it a chance anyway as I was hoping it would be good to define those lashes, and possibly have to layer with a volumising mascara. Well, let's just say, I won't even bother now. It's so much hard work and I have lost count how many times I poked myself in the eye with this stupid thing. This is a no for me, but I do keep trying it every now and then, just to make sure I'm not having am eyelash off day, (they exist). As for the Miss Manga, this was also one that had some good feedback but this just stuck all my lashes together so it looked like I only had 5 lashes. It just didn't work. Plus, it smelt funky. Real funky.

6Aussie in Aussome Volume & Mega Instant
Darn right awful. I love the rest of the Aussie range and I thought these would be awesome, but I was wrong. They both smelt strange and just didn't do a lot of anything. It didn't absorb oil, it didn't add volume, it didn't do anything except make my hair smell weird and feel sticky and gross. To be honest, this isn't a true review, because I wasn't even able to use the Mega Instant one as I couldn't even get it out. And when I did it was a massive blow of a strange looking liquid. When you shake it, it sounds all liquid-y, not dry shampoo-y. Know what I mean? It's just no a no on these.

7. Bourjois Happy Light & Healthy Mix Serum
Bourjois are completely pants when it comes to their shade range. Sort it out Bourjois. These foundations are amazing and I really like the formula, finish, lasting over, all that kind of thing, but the shades are too fricking dark so they look stupid on my pale skin. At first I just blended them down my neck but I had to blend them so much they pretty much disappeared. Ahhhhh Bourjois.

8. Soap & Glory Powder Palette
I got this last year some time near Christmas and I am a big fan of Soap & Glory products so thought this would be awesome to have. I've barely used it. It's featured in some of my posts and although I kind of like the actual products, I just don't use them enough because there's nothing in here that really stands out for me to reach for it more. The highlighter is just odd and I haven't used it at all on my face, I don't think I have anyway. The bronzer has shimmer in it and looks far to orange in my skin, as separate shades and both mixed together. And the blusher is far to shimmery and there isn't a lot if pigmentation to it. So actually, I don't really like the products in it either really. I'm disappointed by this and I hopefully won't make the same mistake again this Christmas. Although I've seen some holiday palettes that are going to be released from all different brands and I am really excited.

9. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Thinking this would be a cheaper alternative to my favourite concealer the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, I searched for ages for the lightest shade, thought it looked great, got it home and went to try it on my face and it was bright orange against my skin, safe to say it definitely was a waste of money, time and effort. So it ended up in a bag full of other face products that were too dark for me, to find a new home somewhere else (hence no photo).

I hope this has been of some use to you and will hopefully stop you from picking up a product without having some other peoples honest opinions on it first.
