6. Summer Ready Drugstore Makeup Look

08:00

We're day 6 of this weeks Summer theme on it's a beauty thing and I thought I would go through a drugstore makeup look with you. To see how this makeup looks on me, go to my Instagram where a picture will be posted of this look.

Primer:

A new product that has recently launched is the Maxfactor Face Finity Primer. This doesn't feel to silicone-y but gives a nice base for makeup and lasts really well. I also like to apply a bit of the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer to add a glow to my skin.

Base:

Onto foundation, and there are many drugstore foundations which are really good and that I highly recommend, but for this look I am going to use the Revlon Colourstay Whipped Foundation. As this has already been mentioned in two posts this week, it shows how much I like this. To cover up my dark circles I start by using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Brightening Concealer and then over the top I apply the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer. If they're still not fully covered then I apply a small amount of the Revlon Foundation just to add some extra coverage. For the summer, it's really important for me to set my concealer now, so I use the E.L.F HD Setting Powder and then it's time for the cheeks.

Cheeks:

A bronzer is a must have in the summer, and one I really like (other than my honey bronzer from TBS) is the Soap & Glory Solar Powder. I use this to warm up my complexion and very lightly contour and sculpt my face. I have been liking a really subtle thought for the daytime so I use the No7 Instant Radiance Highighter on the Real Techniques Pointed Foundatin Brush and pat this onto my cheekbones, brow bone and inner corner of the eye. Using the Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in Pink Lemonade, I take the cream blush in the middle and very lightly dab this onto my skin. You only need the tiniest amount as this is so pigmented, and I really only like to have a subtle flush nowadays. Once that's on, I then go in with a setting powder and apply this just to the areas that get oily through the day.

Brows:

I really like the Soap & Glory brow products, and I tend to use the Archery Pencil to fill them in. As always, the Maybelline Brow Drama is what I use to set my brows and keep them in place.

Eyes:

I wanted to keep this look really simple so I start by applying the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On & On Bronze (similar to the waterproof look post) then with the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner in Purple, I run that along the lower lash line to add a slight pop of colour to the look. Bronze and purple are both colours which really bring out green and hazel eyes. I use a black eyeliner along my top lashes just to add some definition to them and then I use a few coats of mascara. My current mascara duo is the Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara with the L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara. Love the look it gives my lashes.

Lips:

For this particular look, I decided to go for a nude lip. My favourite one at the minute is the Soap & Glory Matte Lipstick in Pom Pom. Which gives a really nice colour to the lip, almost a your lips but better colour, and it's matte but doesn't dry out the lips very much, although I'd still recommend wearing a lip balm (preferably with SPF in it).

So there's my drugstore makeup look for you which is very summer appropriate. I hope you like this look and if you have any summer essentials or recommendations then I would love to check them out.
