A Weekend Post: The Makeup Bag #5 The Weekend Edition

When I have a weekend off, although I love applying makeup and trying out new products and different looks, I just cannot be bothered to do a full routine so here are some products I tend to use to look a tad more presentable. I don't necessarily use all of these, but when I do, this is how I use them.

Primer is, as always, a pore refining, skin smoothing primer applied on the centre of my face and then an illuminating primer on the perimeters of my face but mainly on my cheeks. I've been loving the Dr Brandt Pores No More Primer with the L'Oreal Lumi Magique Base which gives a beautiful glow to the skin.

For foundation, I actually used a new one today that I am trying out which I will talk about in another post next week, but normally I will use either something like the L'Oreal True Match or the Bare Minerals Original Foundation as they're both easy to apply, with a light but buildable coverage, and they're the perfect quick fix to even out my skin tone. I even use them together sometimes if I feel I need a little extra coverage. I have also got the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation recently which is a good alternative to the True Match.

The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is my go to for covering blemishes or redness and for those dark circles, the YSL Touché Éclat is perfect at brightening the eyes, and then a touch of the Collection concealer to conceal the super dark areas right on the inner corner of my eyes. I have also been loving the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer which is actually also a highlighter as well, but this is a light weight consistency that is very similar to the L'Oreal Lumi Magique in that it brightens the area and blends in so effortlessly and doesn't cake at all under the eyes so I have been really enjoying using this.

Onto cheeks and the blusher I have been using non stop for the last month or so (I'm sure I've bored you with it) is the M.A.C. Well Dressed Blush, but I also like the E.L.F. Studio Powder Blush which is a bit peachy-er, or for a cream blush, the No7 Pop & Glow Blushers are brilliant at giving a rosy glow to the cheeks and really brighten up the complexion, when laying in bed all day is the only thing you want to do. Normally I wouldn't use a highlighter as the primer, foundation and the blushers I use all add a radiant glow to the cheeks anyway so it's not a necessity.

I like to keep brows very simple as I'm still finding out what I like but at the weekends it's a quick sparse areas touch up with the Lioele Auto Brow Pencil and then to set in place and add a little extra colour, it's the Maybelline Brow Drama. Moving ground breaking but I am liking the look these two products give.

Onto eyes and normally I just use a black or brown eyeliner or eyeshadow to define my top and bottom lash line a little, and to do that I use either the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliners, or just a matte black or dark brown eyeshadow, and then it's time for a few coats of mascara, current ones I am using are the Maxfactor False Lash Effect or the Maybelline Go Extreme Waterproof Mascara, which are really good at giving volume and separating the lashes.

As for lips, depending on what my plans are it's normally pretty basic, either a quick swipe of a tinted lip balm like the E.L.F. Conditioning Lip Balm or the Maybelline Baby Lips or just a normal lip balm. Or if I want to look like I've actually put effort into it then it will be a moisturising lipstick like the Bourjois Shine Edition's or lip crayons like the Rimmel Colour Rush.

Just to point out, I don't wear this makeup every weekend as my plans change, however on a relaxed and chilled day, this is normally the makeup I do, switching up a few products depending on what I am trying out at the time.

Don't forget to check back every day this week as here on it's a beauty thing it's DRUGSTORE WEEK! So for all of you on a lower budget, be sure to come back this week as I'm going to be sharing with you some of my favourite products from the drugstore, a skincare starter kit as well as some drugstore dupes/alternatives.
