A Beauty Essential: Complexion Pick Me Ups: Top Picks #9

What on earth are complexion pick me ups you ask? Well I'm going to tell you.

Ever just sat and stared into the mirror trying to find the motivation to start getting ready and notice your skin is looking a tad dull and grey, possibly from the colder weather we've had, or even because you didn't get a good nights sleep (story of my life), well here's a few products that really help to give your complexion a fresh glow.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Base: My most recent purchase but I am totally loving it. This is a very glowy, illuminating primer which just brings lots of dewey-ness to your skin but without going overboard on the shimmer. This is a very smooth primer to apply but doesn't feel like a silicone based primer. This base has Glycerin in, which is an ingredient that moisturises the skin and keeps it hydrated so this is brilliant for those with dry skin that want an added glow to their makeup too. I love this and it doesn't make me oily through the day and my makeup stays in place so I have been really liking this one.

Seventeen Skin Wow Highlighter: Next is a product that I have had for a little while and is so incredible I think Seventeen have really upped their game recently. The Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter can be used 3 different ways (they're getting sneaky with these names, right?) 1. Used as a primer, so before you apply any makeup, you put some of this on either in particular areas like what I do (cheeks, forehead, chin) or all over your face (mainly if you have fairly dry skin). 2. Mixed in with foundation. This gives a subtle glow to the skin and depending on what foundation you use and how much you apply if course depends on how well you can see it but this is a brilliant way of just giving a really subtle glow to the skin. 3. Finally is as a normal highlighter. So apply to cheek bones, bridge of nose, forehead, Cupid's bow, this gives a nice slightly shimmery, sheen to the skin without making you look like you're a vampire who glistens in the sun - R-Patz is the only one who can pull that look off, I'm sorry, it's true.

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm: This is an interesting product. This can also be used a couple of ways. 1. As a mask - apply all over skin for 10-15 minutes and it smooths and Energizers your skin. 2. Smooth a layer over the skin, but Do Not rub it in. Apply makeup immediately over the top and it gives a natural glow to the skin.

Bourjois Happy light Luminous Serum: Following on from the Happy Light Foundation, this primer and it's Matte sister offering are very unusual. This has a serum texture, so feels very light and refreshing on the skin and doesn't feel sticky or tacky once applied. Just put makeup on as normal and this will subtly show through your makeup and gives a sheen to the skin, but with absolutely No Glitter.

Revlon Skin Lights: This face illuminator comes in many different shades suitable for different skin tones. This is in the shade pink and I actually got it to use as a normal higlighter, but with the amount you got in the tube, I had a look at some other ways of using this. Similar to the Seventeen Skin Wow Highlighter, this can be used in many different ways. Either before foundation, mixed in to foundation, or as a highlighter after foundation. I find if I apply this all over my face before foundation is way too much shimmer and glow for me, it's bordering along a shimmer fest, but mixed in or after foundation, it gives a subtle glow and no sign of a shimmer fest anywhere.

I highly recommend all of these, these are just some of my favourites that I cannot live without and I rotate between them as no girl needs this many complexion perfectors but I like to try out new things. I'm just far too impatient. I can't wait until I've used something up, I just have to get in when I see it. Truly a beauty obsessed, shop-a-holic.
