A Beauty Chat: Skincare Extras

10:18

Following on from my skincare routine post yesterday, here's a look at some of the products I use once or twice a week.

The most unflattering look ever:
Face masks can do so many amazing things for your skin, and really help your skin concerns so I make a point of putting some time aside to whack on a face mask and look a bit scary for 10-15 minutes. (No jokes of me looking scary all the time please). My weekend, date night, pamper night mask normally consists of a clay mask and I have two on rotation at the moment and I am loving them, first is the Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque and the next is the Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque. For my mid-week treatment, a radiance boosting mask is definitely needed by this point so I opt for the Naturally Radiant Renewal Mask from Superdrug or the REN Radiance Renewal Mask which is an oldie but a goodie. I have a lot of masks that I like and a review/comparison will be up soon so keep an eye out for that but these are the ones I am using on a regular basis. If my skin is in major need of something then a mask is my first plan of action. A multi purpose product that I use once or twice a week is the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Wash & Mask, which gets right down into those pores to combat breakouts and it can be used as a wash and remove straight away, or can be left on for 5-10 minutes. This has Salicylic Acid which is what fights breakouts, and I find this doesn't tend to dry my skin out as much as other products I have tried with spot fighting ingredients in but something moisturising is definitely needed after.

Honourable mentions:
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask // The Body Shop Ionic Mask //

Scrub-a-dub-dub:
Exfoliating the skin is very important no matter what skin type you have. There are two types of exfoliators that I like to use, manual and chemical. To get right down onto those pores using scrubby beads, the Garnier Fresh Essentials Grape Seed Scrub is perfect. For a more gentle, yet effective dead skin cell remover, the Alpha H Liquid Gold is phoneme nail for my skin and always leaves it feeling soft and smooth, as well as helping reduce breakouts and lightening freckles.

Honourable mentions:
Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Toner // St. Ives Apricot Scrub //

Spot eraser:
Being prone to breakouts, a spot treatment is a must have in my skincare routine, and my favourite one at the minute is the Avene TriAcneal Treatment which I use every night. This stuff has really impressed me as it has just banished any signs of the breakout and has helped no end with the scars and marks I had from previous breakouts. I cannot believe how amazing this works and for someone who hasn't had a specific spot treatment really work, I am so pleased I have found this and my skin looks much better for it. (Touch wood, don't want to jinx it.)

Honourable mentions:
Tea Tree Oil //

The magic ingredient:
Something I have been using since around Christmas is the Pai BioRegenerate Rosehip Oil which has been another product that has really helped my skins condition improve. This stuff tackles blemishes, marks, scars, everything, it's bloomin amazing and all it takes is 2-3 drops and applied every night, skin is soft, and any concern on skin the night before is drastically reduced if not gone completely. Totally love this and cannot live without it.

Honourable mentions:
Argan Oil //

There you have it. My full skin care routine from beginning to end. Let me know your thoughts on any of these products or if you have any recommendations for me.
