A Beauty Chat: Valentines Day Look #1

With valentines day fast approaching, I thought I would show a few looks that are perfect for your valentines day celebrations.
This is the first of 3 posts that I will be bringing to you, which will cover a romantic night with the boyfriend, a girls night out, or a girls night in.

Picture this, your boyfriend has surprised you with a romantic night, with wine, a nice candle lit dinner, whether it's at home or in a fancy restaurant, it's always nice to dress up for the occasion.
I went for a very classic and chic winged eyeliner, red lip and soft curls which to me is the perfect romantic date look.

I started by removing the makeup I wore that day to work on freshly clean skin. I go in with a primer to even out those problematic areas and add a little radiance. The primer duo I have been loving recently is the Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Base and the Seventeen Skin WOW 3 Way Highlighter as I have found these are the perfect way of prepping the skin. The Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation was the only option when it comes to a flawless base. Adding a little Yves Saint Laurent Touché Éclat under the eyes and around the nose helps to add a little radiance whilst counteracting redness with its peachy pink tones. With a little of NYX Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer on any blemishes it's time to add a little extra radiance. The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light has recently come in to my possession and this is a beautiful way of adding a little something extra to your complexion, I apply a light dusting over those cheekbones as a highlighter. Using a cream blush adds a sheen to the cheeks, making them look glowy and naturally flushed, the Maxfactor Miracle Touch Blush in Soft Pink was the only option for this look and I use a round top brush and stipple it on to the cheeks, it is so easy to work with and blendable, if you apply a little too much, go over it with the foundation brush you used.

As always, the M.A.C. Paint Pot in Bare Study is placed all over the eyelids as a base, and a little definition is needed in the crease as we're going for a very simple and classy winged liner look, I wanted the eyeshadow to be very minimal. From the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette I apply Tease to the crease of my eye. I'm not particularly an expert with winged liner, I used to wear it every day but felt I needed a bit of a change and I haven't used it for a long time. So first I go in with the Rimmel Scandaleyes Precision Micro Waterproof Eyeliner as a guide as it has a very fine nib which is easy to control for those who are a tad anxious when it comes to winged liner. I then go over it with the Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner to make sure it is black and opaque - you can swap these eyeliners for a gel liner if that's easier for you. Curl those lashes and add a few coats of Maybelline The Rocket Waterproof Mascara to top and bottom lashes. This last step is optional, but I then run the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Black along the upper and lower waterline to finish off the look.

Last step is lips. This was again the only thing that made sense to use for this look and that is the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Big Bang. This stuff stays put, it doesn't dry the lips out, it lasts for ages and even while drinking and eating, a little touch up could be needed in the centre of your lips but other wise you don't need to worry.

Moving onto the hair, I used the Babyliss Pro Curl 22mm Barrel Curling Wand and simply just wrapped the hair around and once all the hair is curled, I leave it for a little while for the curls to gently fall out slightly before I go in with the L'Oreal Mythic Oil to keep the curls smooth and sleek, and with a little Bumble & Bumble Thickening Creme Contour in the ends, that's hair done too.

The outfit I chose for this is a simple red lace skater dress with black tights, with a black fitted blazer and a patent leather belt with heart buckle which finished the outfit nicely. Then for accessories, I wore my rose gold watch, a silver necklace locket and black suede heels and a black leather clutch bag.

Hope you liked the first Valentines Day look, let me know what you think. And check back tomorrow for look #2.
