A Weekend Post: Weekly Loves #5

It's been more than a week (possibly 2) since my last weekly loves post, but I have been trying some new things which you may have seen in my recent haul.

There are quite a few things here because I have been loving a lot.

1. First thing that I have been using non stop in the last week is Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I got this as I saw Vivianna Does Makeup and Lily Pebbles raving about the stuff and I have been looking for a gel cleanser. Although this is on the pricey side, it is definitely worth it and I have been using it especially in the morning and it is really refreshing and although it is marketed as a gel, it is a lot heavier than that and applies almost like a balm on to the skin and whilst you work it in. I will continue to use it for a while before I do a review on it depending on my thoughts but so far I have been loving it.

2. Next up is something that I received just after Christmas as delivery times were delayed slightly. But the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in shade Soft Ivory has been something I have wanted to try for a while but it's price tag had been putting me off. But I decided to give it a go and I believe it was on sale (I'll link where I got it from if I can remember). But I researched it before I purchased as usual and I have been looking at a few reviews for the best way to apply it. But as everyone has said, less is more and if applied with a buffing brush and blended in well it looks flawless. I have to agree.

3. My next favourite from the last week or so has been my new GHD Straighteners. I haven't owned any GHD's before as it never really appealed to me as the ones I have been using for the last 5 years have been perfectly fine and I have used them most days since I got them. Although I have burnt myself on these darn things numerous times I still love them. My parents got them for me for Christmas as that was mainly the thing I asked for and I just love them. They heat up in like 10 seconds I think and are just fantabulous. They make my hair feel so soft and shiny I am excited to try out some other styles with them. Another hair tool I have been trying out is the Babyliss Big Hair Rotating Brush. I haven't really been totally wow-ed by this, but it has given some much needed volume and style to my hair so I hope the longer I use it and get used to it the more I will like it and benefit from it. Side note: I have also picked up the Babyliss Pro Curl Wand which I am still practising with but it gives better curls and with the bigger barrell on my shorter hair I much prefer the style and I have been trying to perfect it over the last few days.

4. Before Christmas I went on a major shopping spree and got somethings that I had been eyeing up. One of those things being Pai Rosehip Oil. After seeing Kate aka Ghostparties and Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup say how amazing this has been for their skin and seeing only positive reviews elsewhere, I thought I would give it a go. It's £20 price tag meant that this stuff had better be worth it, but it most certainly is. I have only used it for just over a week but every day I have, my skin has cleared up a little more. Although I have breakouts still mainly concentrated on my chin, this oil has really shown an improvement in my spotty skin.

5. Another skincare item from my December Haul is the Indeed Lab's Pepta-Bright. I will be honest, how many times I should use it in a week is not clear so I don't use it every night, but since I have started using my new skincare products, I have noticed a difference in the smoothness of my skin, the dryness around my nose area has been minimised and I find that things seems to be calming down a bit with my imperfections. That's not to say my skincare routine before this was rubbish, maybe a change in products, a re-jig is what my skin needed - who knows.

6. A makeup item from my haul that I have used everyday since I got it (seriously, every single day) is the Rimmel Glam Eyes Mono Eyeshadow in Smoky Q. A shimmery, brown/bronze/golden/taupe shade that as an all over lid colour is just beautiful. Such a simple idea but I love the look it gives. I have been wearing it with Smog from Urban Decay naked 1 Palette in the crease and lower lash line and it has been my go to eye look.

7. Don't think I have ever included or even mentioned something like this before, but my next favourite from this week was also a gift from my parents and that is this Owl PJ Top which looks like a normal top but is fleecy. This is so darn warm I have been wearing this in the evening whilst I am blogging or watching TV and I have gone to bed in it and my goodness it keeps you toasty, I don't have my usual size 6-8, this one is a 10, but I like the over-sized feel of it so it's extra snuggly. I don't tend to wear the bottoms in bed but these are so warm as well. I have been very tempted to keep the top on whilst I am out when I know my coat will be staying on. Don't worry I haven't - yet. It is just so warm so thanks Mum and Dad.

8. Finally is one of the many gifts my Best Friend Dani got me for Christmas and that is this bobble hat. I make any excuse to wear it. I have always wanted one but never thought it would suit me but now you can't get me out of it. It's so good to hide a bad hair day too.

Thanks very much to my amazing family and friends for the gifts I received for Christmas and I have totally been loving them. Any products I find suitable for a full review on will be up shortly. Hope everyone had awesome New Year Celebrations and the first weekly loves post for 2014 is done.
