The 2013 Round Up: Makeup & General

14:43

2013 was a busy year for me, discovering a whole new world I never knew existed - The Beauty Guru/YouTube/Blogging world, and I instantly knew what I wanted to do. I have got makeup products that at the beginning of the year I wouldn't know where, how or when to apply them (I knew the basics and that was it). None of this more than 1 eyeshadow palette. What's this... 10 foundations? Highlighters? They're stationary. I had no hope. But 2014 is finally here and I am welcoming it with open arms and I hope by this time next year, I would have learnt and experienced so many more amazing things.

Anywho, let's get on with the final installment for my 2013 beauty round up.

Makeup:

I am going to start off with my favourite-ist product and concept ever. My love for this product in particular started only a few months ago, but my love affair for primers in general happened a few months before. The Benefit Porefessional Primer has changed the way my makeup goes on. It smooths out skin, gives a perfect base for your makeup, and helps it last all day. It has been a total life saver and with my mis-behaving skin, this has been just perfect to smooth out those imperfections so I can cover those bad boys up. The best one I have found from the Drugstore is the Revlon Photo Ready Primer. Which gives a velvety soft feel and helps smooth out my skin especially round the nose and chin area and on problem areas. I love both of these options and depending on my skin depends on which I use that day.

Next up is foundation and I have 2 that I have loved the most. Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in Ivory and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in Shade 3. I am very keen in trying some other higher end foundations - in fact I have one already on it's way (my first Laura Mercier complexion product). But these two foundations in particular have been a staple in my day to day makeup routines. A drugstore and a higher end option, the Nearly Naked has been fabulous and is a lovely, natural and perfect shade choice. The Georgio Armani is pretty much the same, except the technology in the foundation is phenomenal and, and it gives a beautiful, luminous (obvs) and natural finish, there's just something about this one that puts it a few more points ahead of the Revlon option. But both have a coverage which is customizable.

My highlighter obsession flourished this year as my need for radiant, healthy, glowing skin got a tad OTT, but I have finally admitted I have a slight problem. From radiant boosting skincare, illuminating primers, to highlighters I have got them all. My favourites have definitely been The Balm Mary Lou-Manizer Illuminating Powder and the Miners Multipurpose Highlighter Sticks, whilst The Balm's offering is very pigmented and requires a feather light touch, the multipurpose highlighter stick is very natural yet gives a radiant glow as if you have had a facial/good nights sleep.

Eyeshadow palettes of the year has got to be the Urban Decay Naked 1 & 2 palettes. These continue to amaze me and as much as I keep looking wishfully at the newest edition to the collection, I think I have enough to keep me going for now. These palettes are just incredible and can give so many looks, I haven't worn even half of them.

Finally for makeup is lip products and it is a particular type of product, and that is the chubby stick style, glossy, balm, stain type products. I think these are just brilliant. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains were the first ones I tried and that started my curiosity to find out what the others were like Honey and Lovesick  are my favourites. Which led me to Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks in Nudist and Raplumzel. These are more glossy and didn't last as long but I really like these as they don't dry out the lips and they can be applied very lightly for a wash of colour or you can apply it quite heavily and it still looks amazing. Rimmel Colour Rush was another that I tried and I have actually only got one of these as none of the other shades stood out to me. But the lasting power of this is amazing. If you apply this to the lips, then blot it with tissue and apply another layer and blot again, then this stuff won't budge for hours.

Thankyou's: I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported, read, shared, liked my blog. It is something that I love to do and about something that I love to buy and use. I am in no way a professional nor do I claim to be, and everything I try, use, talk about, is all my own views and opinions and I am glad that I can hopefully help someone else through my experiences.
I can't forget to say a huge thank you to my parents, best friend and boyfriend for supporting me and helping me and I appreciate everything you do for me and being there. Okay so now that's done, all is left to say I hope you have all had an amazing 2013 and let me know what your favourite things are from the year and what you are looking forward to in 2014.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

What are your favourite things from 2013?
