A Weekend Special: Post Party Pampering

Happy Weekend everyone!!

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and were spoilt rotten, let me know what you all received and how your day was. I had an amazing Christmas and I cannot believe how incredible my family are. I love spending time with them and this year didn't disappoint. I got to see my best friend Christmas Eve, My boyfriend Christmas day and Boxing day and the rest of the time was spent with family.
After all the turkey, alcohol and ridiculous amounts of chocolates consumed, my skin is in much need of a pamper sesh, and I thought with New Year coming up as well I would do this so that come new years day, you have an idea of some pampering tricks to clear that complexion and make you look a little less zombie-ish and a little more with it.

Whether it's a night on the town or a night in with friends or family, where alcohol is concerned, you're guaranteed to pay for it the next day. A bath or shower is always the first thing I do, 1. So I don't smell like a brewery all day, and 2. It always refreshes me and wakes me up slightly. Washing your hair is always a nice and refreshing way to make yourself feel a bit more human and if you used a lot of heat or products the day before then it is always good to use a clarifying shampoo and a nice hair mask. For this I use The Body Shop Ginger Shampoo (not necessarily a clarifying shampoo but it gets rid of product build up and cleans the hair well) and the L'Oreal EverRiche Hair Elixir. My moisturiser of choice (baring in mind we are only in the morning) is the Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer I like to use this as it is very light and fuss free. Perfect for someone who can't function whilst having a hangover.

On to the face now and for me, my skin hates it when I drink or eat too much. First off I like to cleanse properly. If it's due to a drunken night out, where not a lot of care was taken in removing makeup (or not removed at all) or simply just eating a lot or not getting enough sleep, then I start off with cleansing my skin really well. I have recently been trying the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel which I find is very refreshing and removes makeup, you can either/or use the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm to gently melt away any left over makeup, which is also very effortless for those of you who are just itching to get back into bed and hide under the covers for the next year. Once cleansed, it is important to rehydrate the skin, as alcohol doesn't just dehydrate your body. My favourite hydrating mask is the Origins Drink Up Intensive Over Night Mask. Although it's an over night mask, if you don't have any plans for the next few hours, I like to leave this on to work it's magic. This really helps to give your skin that moisture boost and help it to repair and rehydrate. With the mask done, I go in with my toner, serum and moisturiser and I also like to apply an oil (again if you have no plans other than to recover, or just a lazy day) Organic Argan Oil or the Rose hip Oil from Pai is my favourite at the minute. For those, tired, probably puffy eyes, I like to apply a cold cotton round/gel mask over my eyes to help de-puff and refresh - Normally I just spray 4 cotton rounds with my Avene Thermal Spring Water or just soak in cold water and I fold 2 of the pads in half and apply 1 under each eye, and then the other two I just apply over my entire eye and leave them there for a little while. You can spray them again if they start warming up and I find that this really helps with those tired and dark circled eyes, especially if eye makeup wasn't removed properly or at all, to hydrate. 

Hair, body, face and eyes done, refreshed and clean, all there is left to do is change those bed sheets - nothing better than getting into a fresh and clean bed - whack a film on and spend the rest of the day with your feet up and relaxing. Stress only makes things worse and it's not good for mind, body or skin. Don't forget to drink lot's of water.
